1598 Tasting Notes
This one isn’t too bad – it’s ceylon, and tiger eye, which I think adds a little caramel, and I can taste the cinnamon in it too. It’s tasty – there’s nothing wrong with it – but it’s not quite memorable either.
But I’m happy I tried it! And if I were in the Zelda fandom maybe I would appreciate it more!
Ok Sil- your turn! (Sipdown, 187)
Mmm… there’s a lot going on in this sweet amber tea…
Sweet potato, lots of caramel, assam notes and a little orange. Everything blends together so well. The Lapsang Souchong is subtle, as are the other spices It’s just like a warm day in the garden. :)
Sipdown! (189)
Preparation
Yeah! I tossed the rest into your box so I hope you enjoy it. I made only 8 oz, and steeped it for 2.5 minutes to try and coax as much flavour out as I could – I hope you get the same results!
Laoshan Black /Verdant & Herbal Infusions Orange Cream Lapacho
I heard LB was great wit HI’s Cacao but I was out so I thought I’d try lapacho. The TL:DR is that it SMELT amazing but tasted barky. I just don’t like lapacho I guess. If you did, you might like this mix?
If HI didn’t make Strawberry Cream Cacao I would exclusively switch over to Tisano in a heartbeat.
I could see this combo being a bit strange due to the base, for sure.
I was hoping for a chocolate orange tea because OMG that would be great. I just never get enough chocolate orange! If I like lapacho more, it might have worked great!
Oh god, YES! A cacao orange tea needs to be made. Maybe we’d finally get our liquidated Terry’s chocolate orange.
I should probably talk about this tea but I don’t want to. I’m just obsessed with Destiel atm. I finished reading Epilogue by Jayne L (http://archiveofourown.org/works/386546) last night and it was so amazing and sad and it stuck in my head and I woke up dreaming of Mischa Collins. I love the pairing of Dean and Castiel. The falling angel, and the man who doesn’t feel he deserves anything good in his life…
And this story had THE saddest Castiel I’ve ever encountered.
I remember people fangirling about Destiel years ago and I just ignored it and wow, what a fool am I! These guys, these poor sad guys…
(dude that sounds WAY better than my recent dream where i was doing drugs in a hotel with sherlock. the supernatural fortress of solitude is SWEET!)
Shmiracles, I read your dream description out to a friend and her daughter (who does a lot of cosplay and fandom stuff) and they both couldn’t stop laughing! That sounds like a really interesting experience!
OMGsrsly, i’m surprised it doesn’t happen more regularly considering all the fanfic i read right before bed.
(easily my best post-fic dream to date was the one where i was making out with naked Chris Evans, duh.)
Uh, yeah. That would indeed be a nice dream, wouldn’t it! :D I read a lot of fanfic before bed, but I don’t have weird dreams about it. I feel like I’m missing out!
i’ve actually had a few Chris Evans dreams. in another one he was at a local restaurant and reading some spoken word poetry he’d written. i think i woke up laughing IRL cuz his reading was so weird and hilarious.
and i know he plays superheroes half the time, but i think he shows up in my dreams cuz in actuality he seems the most ‘average dude’ of all the cast in all my particular fandoms. ya know? like cuz, his interviews are always awkward and he talks openly about therapy/fears/getting nervous and he studies buddhism and has a self-effacing sense of humor that’s familiar in my daily life. that’s all.
I’m on my resteep of this! Yay! I tried all 5 teas today like some kind of crazed DT fangirl.
Which I can be. Admittedly.
This one was ok, but I could take it or leave it.
So, the winners are Cool Cucumber and Blue Lagoon.
Also, whales.
I love how blue my mug is, and I love how the snow out front is melting away and that I’m starting to crave cold brewed teas again.
I liked Peaches and Cream. I def need to give it more steeps to see how much I like, but my first impression is that I want to get another 20-25g (I only got 12g, as it turns out, so not much). I’ll try Blue Lagoon after my Orange Oolong resteep. Pom Tango left me on the fence again. I’m gonna try it with adding some straight tea to it, but not sure which one to use. Cool Cucumber will probably need another month before I feel up to trying, as I really want a nice warm day for it.
I immediately want 100g of this. It does remind me of blue whale candy.
And it’s in my blue whale mug! They match!
(I on the other hand don’t – blue sweat pants and a bright orange tank top. I’m staying home today, can you tell?)
I’ve got the used leaves cold-steeping right now and I am very excited to try it later on!
BLUE WHALE CANDY TEA!
Blue and orange! http://youlookfab.com/2012/08/16/mixing-orange-with-blue/
:P
I think I’m going to have to try this tea. :) Blue candy! Woo!
may have to sneak some from you if i dont get to a david’s in the near future…this was the only one i wanted to try
Is it really artificial tasting? I can’t do artificial blueberry. But the pineapple makes me curious…
Hmmm… To be honest, I’m to sure if it is? I really taste the lemongrass and pineapple so it’s harder to pinpoint the blueberry. Sorry. I’ll keep that thought in mind for other cups!
And I’ll make a note Sil!
Sil, I got the 25 g samplers so I can toss some into the package with the Nina’s teas I am sending your way :)
So I steeped this for 8 minutes.
(I kinda want to end that note there. Hahaha.)
It’s good, but it mostly tastes like peach. There’s not enough black tea in this for it to have gotten bitter so that’s ok, but… where’s the juicy, juicy pomegranates?
Isn’t it supposed to be pomegranate mango? I thought the tea tasted like mango juice and that was about it. But I only had a sample.
This doesn’t disappoint!
It’s grape! And yes, it’s that fake grape you get with pop or cough medicine, but you know what? I LIKE that grape.
I think 4 minutes is starting to push it as this tastes a little bitter. Maybe 3.5 would have been perfect? This is still good though, don’t get me wrong. I can taste the sencha, but it’s not super strong. I’m ok with that.
Again, I’ll rate this later after I come down from my new-tea excitement!
Preparation
I didn’t find it too tart – it just just slightly tart – enough to make that grape flavour pop more?
Fake grape is scary to me, because it’s a flavour that didn’t EXIST in my life until I came to the US – suddenly, there was this whole new flavour, a NEW FLAVOUR I’d never seen before. And it was everywhere!
(Much like nothing is EVER pear flavoured in Italy, whereas in Sweden everything is… and the other way around with cherry.)
Oh, this is really good! And it’s perfect in my whales cup! Whaaaaaales!

It’s all melon! Honeydew melon! And I get something that makes me think of cucumber in it. It’s quite light and refreshing, even though I steeped it for 7 minutes – I may have got distracted taking pictures of my pretty whales. :D I took the leaves and popped it in the fridge with my other nordic mug so I can compare the cold-steeped version later!
I really like this though. It’s light on tea, and heavier on fruit so it might be expensive if you want a lot of black leaf in it, but I don’t mind that either. This way I can share with the toddler and not worry about it. I do get a spearminty after-taste too, although I don’t know if there is mint in it or not. Maybe in the added flavours?
I’d want to rate this 90 and go out and buy a tin, but I know that’s just new-tea-fever! I’ve got a 25g pouch so I’ll rate it after I try it again.
Preparation
I wouldn’t have thought that cucumber and melon belong in black tea, but I’m seeing this get a lot of love. My interest is piqued!
How did you brew this? because I got a cup of grass! :(
Oh no! I think I steeped it at 80-85C for 3 minutes. A lot of the grape is in the scent, but I could still taste it too. I hope you have better luck with it!
I hope so too! Ok, my water is already pretty cool, but I’ll wait until it’s even cooler.
