493 Tasting Notes
Stephanie shared this tea with me – thank you so much
Im on oolong quest. I know that im not a fan of floral oolong especially those ones rich in white flowers notes.
This tea reminded me gingerbread cookies in first five steeps. Its spicy, sweet and cinnamon-y. Yum. later on florals took over but they were still pleasant.
i steeped this tea dont know how many times and left for tomorrow as grandpa style.
Overall I’m very happy being able to try this tea. Its my 3rd sample from BTT. I find their teas very impressive. If you are Oolong lover this tea shouldnt be missed.
Preparation
Yesterday I received a care package from Stephanie with many samples. This sample was one of them. I wanted to try it for some time.
Im oolong explorer. So far i think i love dark roasted oxidized oolongs. I prefer dried fruits and nuts notes and florals… lets just say we are not friends and not enemies lol
Muzha Tieguanyin is a beautiful tea. I tried one recently from Teaave and really liked it. but im not going to compare these two teas. they have very different profile .
This particular tea is delicious. very aromatic. The roast done right. its not stated on website roast level or oxidation or any other useful info for novice like me. Hopefully they will add this info. I think its medium roasted TGY but please correct me if im wrong.
6.5g into 100ml pot, 200F. flash rinse and steeps of 10/15/20sec etc
The brew is dark yellow color. Smells really nice of roasted nuts and fruits. tastewise its not that fruity. it was more on floral spectrum for me. It has very thick mouthfeel. Later steeps ( i dont remember how many i had , 12 maybe) produced strong mineral note which remind me Wuyi oolong. Once i had a long steep close to 1min. it was too bitter and strong for my taste.
I think this tea is very interesting. i highly recommend to try it. Since its only 2 Muzha TGY i’ve tried i cannot declare that this is the best. A lot of samplings are ahead to figure out my likes and dislikes.
Thank you so much Stephanie for sharing your tea with me

Turned out the heart symbol i inserted prevented from seeing the pics. I guess Steepster doesnt like hearts ;(
This is a sample i got with my recent order. Thank you so much Yunnan Sourcing
The dry leaves are gorgeous, long and twisted. Floral and hay aroma.
4.5g 50ml celadon gaiwan 200F
rinse/flash steeps/gradually increasing time
The tea is smooth, creamy, bitter, sweet, very little astingency. quick lasting huigan.
I was craving for some bitter sweet sheng and this one was perfect at the moment.
Preparation
I got this tea because Tealizzy recommended and Teaave has free ship on everything till 7/31.
I thought its a great opportunity to try this tea since Im on roasted oolongs quest.
The package arrived 3 days later by DHL truck.
Everything was packed with a great care.
About the tea. i used my smallest gaiwan of 50ml which i find great for sampling.
did a quick rinse. 200F 15/20/30/40 sec etc
This tea is a fruit bomb. Peach, pineapple, nectarine, maybe something else . it is so juicy. the roast done well so no ashy aftertaste.
And i was resteeping it the whole evening, lost count how many steeps.
So happy i got this tea. also 5 tins . they are not only gorgeous turquoise color but also very tight fitting lids . They so remind me Tiffany&Co ;)

Flavors: Fruity, Peach, Pineapple
Preparation
I had it awhile ago and was pretty sure I left a review. Sorry.
I remember I had a very nice session with this tea. It’s smooth , fruity sweet and touch bitter which is really ties all the flavors together.
Many thanks to Wymmtea for giving me a chance to try their wonderful teas
Preparation
My apologies for taking such a long time to review the samples. I think I got 2 more left. Will try them soon.
This tea. Leaves are so beautiful, long , not broken, some silvery.
Usually I use Gaiwan for tastings but I decided on Jian Shui pot.
The tea is quite strong, some bitter which I really liked. I’ve noticed I need some bite to a sweet creamy sheng not to be boring.
The brew is pale yellow. It is fruity and floral at the same time .
I enjoyed it a lot and will continue tomorrow. Pretty sure it’s durable to last longer than 10 steeps.
this tea didn’t make me sleepy or tea drunk. I’d say it’s quite energizing
Thank you so much Wymmtea for the opportunity to try your wonderful teas

As soon as I heard that Joseph Wesley has this limited edition for sale I placed an order for 50g. This tea is exceptional quality and taste. Each leaf is perfect thin curl. I made it western 3g 8oz 200F for 3min. The color was amazing bright orange. The tea is complex. It is even hard to describe. Somewhat floral, nutty. It is not heavy and would be perfect as breakfast or afternoon tea in summer. So refined. Doesn’t need any additions. Just perfect. No bitterness or astringency detected.
Next time I’m going to Gongfu it. I’m pretty sure it will taste even better. I would be able to pick up more notes.
Preparation
This tasting note for Baby Gourd i got with my June Club offering.
its soo darn cute. i felt sorry to behead it but i had no choice.
Surprisingly easy, it took me just few secs. i guess i was just lucky finding the right spot.
5g 80ml glazed shiboridashi 200F
rinse/pause/ short steeps
I like this tea. its sweet, smooth, thick, creamy, some bitterness later on but not major. And i got sweet aftertaste long after i finish drinking it
I think its enjoyable for pu head and safe for beginner.
Im very happy with my Club subscription. thank you Paul ;)

Wait.. You didn’t brew the whole thing at once? Weak sauce!
Wait.. You didn’t brew the whole thing at once? Weak sauce!(I actually used very similar parameters and got very similar notes off it.)
I have no guts like Cwyn! lol So do you think i should use more leaf next time. Someone on IG tried 10g for 100 and said it was too much !
i got this sample along with other tea i “won” on IG. I didnt answer the question 100% right but the winner was so generous and passed it on me. Tea people are awesomely generous!
Im a big fan of Yancha. i always eager to try since its so different and so delicious.
When i opened the pocket i was smelling it at least for 15 min. Crazy right? like i have nothing to do! but the aroma is incredible. roasted nuts and cannabis!
I had to look thru my window in a case someone was smoking a pot right outside. no, the street was empty, haha
my usual Yancha parameters
6g 100ml gaiwan, 195F rinse/ short steeps 3/5/7/10/15 etc
it is sweet, roasty nuts, some earthiness and mineral notes in later steeps.
i enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you Great Horse Tea for sharing this sample with me. Goes on my wishlist!
Preparation
This is a free sample from my recent order.
I’m not a huge fan of Dancong. its tricky to brew even though im super careful. In addition, I do not like florals in my tea. it must be heat or something but i woke up after late late nap with cravings for Dancong.
This tea is incredible. Fresh, green and not floral. The smell is intoxicating of freshness and nuttiness.
First steeps remind me green beens and young potatoes. savory delicious.
Later on it picked some spice and floral notes, but florals werent strong which is YAY in my case.
The tea was very refreshing, deliciously sweet. Thank you so much Scott for sending this sample my way. i would never pick it on my own.
To conclude, we should not drink only “comfortable teas”. we should try new ones, train our buds and perhaps discover new favorite.Steeping parameters
5g 100ml porcelain gaiwan 195F
rinse/flash steeps/3/5/7sec

Preparation
I like your conclusion. I almost never drink Oolongs, but maybe this tea will get me out of my comfort zone.
Doug F, that was my case. i drink pu, yancha and hongcha. but i think its like learning curve. we cannot get stuck in the same teas. it helps appreciate and pick up notes in sheng. this oolong is so weather appropriate. its more complex than green tea and it didnt get bitter. also i really like Taiwanese oolongs i picked from their new site Taiwan Sourcing. of course i only picked dark roasted ones for now ;) Delicious
Looks tasty
Nice! :D
