I really like this tea. Dark bittersweet chocolate and cream of wheat. No earthiness. all leaves are whole golden brown. The brew is clear copper-red color. I haven’t noticed rice notes. If you like Special Dark by Mandala you will enjoy this one. they seem similar.

Flavors: Cream, Dark Bittersweet

I love sticky rice flavored pu…I can’t wait to try the ones you sent me :D

boychik

Those are different. I got them fr Puerhshop.com. I find even Lao Cang ones taste diff from different sellers. Sticky rice ones are simple and very comforting.

Free sample with my not so current purchase.
This cup is smooth and a little bland. I would not buy it but wouldn’t turn down if offered.

Preparation

I like their regular English Breakfast better, and their Keemun Mao Feng even more!

boychik

Is it possible it’s bland because its in a sachet? Kusmi for instance taste different in loose and muslin bag form. I should try Keemun Mao Feng. On wish list it goes

ifjuly

i felt the same way about this one, not terrible but nothing to write home about. they def. have better breakfast blends.

boychik

Cold it’s not that bad at all. Very smooth and chocolaty and zero astringent. Could be a perfect candidate for iced tea.

ashmanra

I don’t know if it is because it isn’t loose leaf but perhaps so. I remember I found it bland and unremarkable, but not undrinkable.

I’m on vacation so I got some mini tuo cha with me. So convenient. This is a free sample I got fr Angelina’s tea. I’m not into jasmine teas but decided to try. On a wrapper it’s written 2002, so I assume it was pressed in 2002. Pls correct me if I’m wrong. The tuo doesn’t look green, more brown and it doesn’t have strong floral green smell. Jasmine is very soft, just a hint of it. And it’s soo sweet, no bite, no bitterness. I like this tea a lot. It aged nicely. Sadly I went on their site and didn’t find any.

It’s a sample from my recent order fr Angelina’s Tea. This company has top service. They were out of stock of some tea so they refunded the money and gave me lotsa free samples.
This mini tuo is so cute . Doesn’t have a strong smell of rosé which is a plus for me. Very strong floral teas make me sick. It is there on a background complements nicely strong prune and leather notes. I really like Haiwan recipe. Recently I read on tea chat that mini tuo are all gross. The best thing you can do is to flush it down the drain. Politely disagree. Some are very nice and super convenient on the go

Last night i got a very thoughtful gift – scale. Now I’m not going to guess how much tea should I put. it will make my tea journey a little easier. ( i want to be a tea nerd, haha)
This tea i had several times and i dont know why i never logged it.
5g 150ml 185F
rinse 10/15/30/30/45/1min etc
this tea is so complex. every steep doesnt look like previous one.
Started with faint fresh peach or apricot, some nuts. the following steeps were more intense introducing muscatel flavors. yes at some point it was like Darjeeling. By fifth steep some citrus notes emerged maybe like lemon myrtle(?)
During my session i never noticed any bitterness, i think its because of short steeps (my fave method of brewing Chinese and Taiwanese teas)
This is not an everyday tea , its a special treat.

Flavors: Grapes, Nuts, Peach

Preparation
185 °F / 85 °C 0 min, 15 sec 5 g 5 OZ / 150 ML

boychik since only 10% of tea is loose, and you used the words complex, notes, and muscatel in the same paragragh, the scale was note required to become a tea nerd. It is just further proof, its like having a periodic table app on your phone. Wear the label proudly! :)

boychik

I’m proud of it ;-)

mrmopar

Second the scale. Especially for puerh. !10 grams of sheng will 20 grams of shou. The main reason I got my scale.

ifjuly

haha, K S is right. be proud in your tea nerdery!

i keep considering getting a scale and not quite biting the bullet. i think eventually i will. i’ll be curious to hear over time whether you think it makes a big difference in your tea experience. and yeah, i think if i decide i really love pu erh (still not sure how that’s going to play out!) it’ll make a lot of sense.

boychik

Remember my note abt Haiwan Peacock Quest. I totally overdid it. What about those curly long twisty leaves mainly Taiwanese? They don’t even fit in tablespoon.

It is nice cup of tea filled with chocolate notes. Perfect for breakfast. There is some slight sour bread notes I pick up. Like at the end of the sip. I still prefer Teavivre Bailin and Joseph Wesley

sounds wonderful. i love bi luo chun, and to me it represents warm weather for sure. so many fond memories of drinking it all summer last year, yum.

Stephanie

Yum greeny

DeliriumsFrogs

That sounds soooo good.

SimpliciTEA

This is a good one. I will have to write a review soon. I found the first steep to be very flavorful (180F at ~1 min.) but the 2nd and third to be not so flavorful)

sherapop

I am ordering this on your recommendation! (You were right about Scott. ;-))
