drank Chocolate and Cream by TeaFrog

I got a sample of this with my Steepster Select order a while ago and kind of forgot about it. I am not a huge chocolate-lover, and I usually don’t want real chocolate bits in my tea, but it sounded fantastic. It also smells fantastic—all the teas I’ve stored near it in the cabinet took on a bit of the smell.

I didn’t see if the spoonful of tea I used to brew my cup today actually had any chocolate chips in it, but the taste of chocolate was (thankfully) quite subtle. I didn’t really get much of a “cream” flavour at all, but I drank this while I was working and didn’t have the time to sit and really analyze it so I might’ve just missed it.

I wasn’t blown away by this tea from the one cup I’ve had, but it was pleasant and I am anxious to try it again and get a better feel for it

Used my last bag today—I will definitely be repurchasing this! For some reason, every time I brew this, I think “coffee” when I first smell it. That’s odd because A) I hate coffee, and even the smell of it makes me kind of sick, but Cookie still smells wonderful and B) there’s nothing even remotely coffee-like in it so that doesn’t even make sense. Maybe it’s a strange association I’m making with something in the tea.

Anyway, once again I forgot to add milk (since I never use it in my tea) but I bet Cookie would be even better with just a little milk added. The last cup was just as good as the other 9 were—his is one of my favourite blends! Very different from anything else I own.

drank Earl Grey Tea Latte by Tazo

I get this without the syrup, and I like it well enough. I agree that Tazo’s Earl Grey isn’t anything special, and it easily becomes bitter if you let it steep too long (maybe 4 min. is the maximum in my experience). I get this when I don’t feel like chai… sometimes I just want tea with a little something extra. It’s good enough for what it is!

I realized today that I’d never tried this tea (ugh, that definitely means I own too many since I don’t even know which ones I’ve tried now!), and brought it to work. It was my full intention to brew it for 3-4 minutes, but after answering the phone and getting distracted by the Zoya nail polish site, it ended up brewing over 10 minutes. That resulted in an extremely bitter tea, but I still managed to drink a good deal of it. I guess that’s a testament to the fact that the tea will taste great when I brew it properly… I will reserve any judgement but I have high hopes! I wish I felt like making another cup of it today but I don’t, so I will save it for another time.

Tried this for the first time this morning. I was a little busy and didn’t give it the proper attention it deserved, so I won’t write too much about it in this post. I brewed a spoonful’s worth of leaves for just about 4-5 minutes and was worried about oversteeping, so I was surprised when it wasn’t very strong in flavour. I will definitely try more tea or a longer brewing time the next time I try this. It was very smooth and pleasant to drink but I was hoping for something a tad stronger. I’ll see how it goes next time!

I got my Damn Fine Tea order last night (YAY!!) and of course had to immediately try one of them today. As a strong black tea lover, Caravan was my first pick. I didn’t look at the description before I brewed it, so I wasn’t expecting the smoky scent & flavour. Normally I have a pretty negative association with smoky notes (especially when it comes to food), but I don’t have much experience with it in tea. I have to say, I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this! It’s exactly what I needed today, and the brewing time of just over 4 minutes was perfect for my oversized mug. Just a tad more time and I think I would’ve had to add milk to tone it down, but I adore the way this cup turned out.

There’s no weird or bitter aftertaste, and overall this is a really nice blend. This was a great start for my introduction to A&D Damn Fine Teas! If I like either of the other two teas in series 3 as much as I like this one, I’m pretty sure I’ll be a fan for life!

drank Indian Spiced Chai by Twinings

Had this in my cupboard for who knows how long, so I pulled it out to try today. I have to say I don’t like it quite as much as the Bigelow Vanilla Chai, but it’s not bad. I didn’t add milk and that might make it more enjoyable. Not much else to say about this one!
