52 Tasting Notes
Another back log from yesterday, this one also wasn’t bad. Really tart from the hibiscus, I’m assuming. I added some sugar and it tasted like candy. Also, I think I let it steep too long because it was totally purple. That didn’t bother me, and in fact, it enhanced how I felt about it. Really, the purple played up to the candy vibe I was getting.
Preparation
Back log from yesterday. This wasn’t bad and it was pink so that was pretty cool. Also, after reading through other tasting notes on this, I determined that the taste I was getting but couldn’t quite place could be some type of nut. It was very enjoyable and what made this tea for me.
Preparation
You guys, I love sales. I got this on sale for a dollar an ounce during Teavana’s Heavenly Sale. You guys, cough syrup. That’s what I don’t love, especially in my freaking tea! This is so gross. I guess I know now why this was on sale.
Preparation
In this case I’m glad I didn’t cave and buy this one! Sorry to hear it’s awful – I find Teavana hit and miss myself.
Yay for your willpower! I have none, haha! So I ended up with this that I’ll try to mix with something to make more palatable, I suppose.
I did buy another though that tasted like cough syrup as well – Raspberry Luau. So I wouldn’t say my willpower is anything to be proud of, haha :P I do plan to try it iced though!
Brewed it hot, added a little sweetener. Took one sip, bitter as all heck, so it went down the drain. But I tried, I really did. Now that I have some ice cubes in the freezer I can try it iced…just gotta do it on a day where I feel courageous :P
Right? It’ll probably be a while though. I’m also not likely going to reach for it with all the snow we have on the ground. I’d rather be warm!
This came in my super awesome box from my new bes-tea, Tea Pet! Overall, I like this. It’s spicy and creamy. I get the hazelnut and it’s intensified by the piece of hazelnut chocolate I consumed with it.
Preparation
I’ve had this tea 3 times now. It honestly took that long before I decided how I felt about it. The first cup was very disappointing and I thought about putting it in a swap pile. It was watery and tart and dried my mouth out, which was weird. I gave up on it that night and tried something else. My second cup was better, having over-leafed it by about half again as much. I also let it steep to the high end of the bag’s recommendations, 5 minutes. This was much better. It was still pretty tart but I at least got the fuller flavor I was chasing after. A re-steep of it, again letting it sit for 5 minutes, provided the best cup yet. The spices were very prominent, it was smooth, it almost tasted like a cookie. I’m glad I didn’t give up on this little guy. In fact, I’m pretty sure that we have a date again tonight.
Preparation
I don’t like licorice. That being said, I would’ve NEVER picked up this tea had I read the label past Root Beer. As it is, I’m glad I did. The dry leaves smell so strongly of licorice that my first thought was “What have I done?” But I decided to forge on through, to expand my tastes if nothing else. Luckily, something else. I really enjoy this tea. My first time having it there were loads of little floaties everywhere. I didn’t dig that. This time, I brewed using a Tsac instead of my infuser mug and I think it worked beautifully. Very enjoyable.
Preparation
Having this again today, finishing up the little I had. Sad face. But something else I noted- as it cooled (from spending 20 minutes on the phone with my mom) a licorice flavor made its way to the front. I didn’t enjoy it but it was not as deplorable as I expected it to be.
Preparation
This was…ok. The aroma was great. I got mint, Chamomile and various herbs and everything worked together nicely. I tasted it and it was surprisingly sweet, as others have mentioned. I got the mint again, some earth and the herbs. But as I swallowed, I got a cooling feeling that was kinda weird. I have since finished my cup and my stomach is now upset. Not really digging this tea anymore. Hopefully it at least does what it said it will and enables me to get a nice night’s rest. I’ll keep you posted.
Preparation
This is one of my favorites from a local tea parlor. It’s a typical green that tastes like the little almond cookies you get from Chinese restaurants with a lot of coconut flavor jostling for its attention, too. Totally yummy!
