This tastes like a deeper, stronger dragonwell. It is very grassy with a bit of nutty thrown in. Given that, the insane price tag to me is not worth it. Good, but not THAT good.

People who like really boldly flavored black teas will probably like this. It is malty and rich, and a bit astringent. I am not the biggest fan of astringency, so it isn’t really for me.

Recommended for those who like heavy, bold blacks.

I like this a lot more than traditional earl grey – but I LOVE lavender. I think there is a sweetness there that is so nice, as I typically don’t add sweetener to anything but chai. I would definitely repurchase this – it would be soapy and strong without milk though. Most earl greys taste soapy to me. Milk is a must.

This is actually one of the better nighttime teas I have had. It is mostly chamomile, but the mint smooths things out a lot. Smooth is a really good way to describe it – most teas like this are floral/herbal, but few I have had have this smoothness.

drank Smoky Bacon by Man Teas
630 tasting notes

Whew – This one tastes like you licked the wall of a smokehouse. To me, I smell bacon amidst the smoke, but it is nearly ALL smoke. And upon sipping it, I really only taste smoke. I LOVE bacon, LOVE smoky flavor, and I think I could have loved this if it tasted more like bacon with a hint of smoke. But the smoke flavor overwhelms to the point where I could barely drink half a cup of this. All points go to creativity though.

Recommended for people who truly cannot get enough smoke flavor. But more likely, this would be better for cooking with to give smokey flavor to other things. I am going to give that a try to use up the rest of the sample.

This smells pretty much like Earl Grey to me, which is totally fine, but it meant I got out the almond milk to splash in it before even brewing. Without, bergamot tastes super soapy to me.

Anyway, with a bit of almond milk, this was fantastic. I could taste the tea, bergamot, AND almond from my milk (something I really enjoy, and why I buy almond milk in the first place). Win.

This is a very light and floral oolong, and it is very smooth and easy to drink. It holds up to several steeps, but in my opinion, I cannot recommend this for what it is. It is tasty enough but it is EXORBITANTLY expensive for no good reason (also, in my humble opinion).

drank Raspberry Cream by 52teas

This is good hot, but SUPER awesome iced. The black base is really tasty and is a good vehicle for the raspberry, and the cream flavor is also more noticeable when it is cool. As a bonus, raspberry is one of my very favorite fruits.

I love lavender more than people should. I opened the bag and was punched in the face with it. I was worried it would get that perfumey, soapy taste, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It was soft and floral and I could taste the oolong alongside the lavender. It tasted great with a few steeps too, but the balance of lavender and oolong differed a bit each time. Highly recommend.

drank Premium Sencha by Aiya

Sencha always reminds me of grass clippings, if grass were as green as grass could get. I love it – this one is very good. It is super fresh, which makes it ideal for late spring/early summer drinking. It is vegetal with a bit of citrus that helps to keep things light.

Now a certified teacher, beginning my first year in third grade this fall. I have been involved in the tea world about 5 years now. In that time, I have learned so much, and am hoping to learn even more by joining the steepster community.

In my non-tea times, I am usually watching netflix while writing lesson plans, cuddling my two kitties, or trying to find new things to do in a town that is sometimes a bit limited!
