drank Earl Grey Cream by Zen Tea

Today I found out that my best friend is moving to another state. I am happy for her and her family,(wonderful job opportunity!) but I’m sad she won’t be within walking distance anymore. Needless to say, I wanted some comfort, and without hesitation I turned to my trusted EGC. Tonight it’s soothing and steady. Just what I need.

drank Vanilla black tea by Zen Tea

I received this sample with my recent ZenTeaLife order. This is a tea I’ve almost ordered many, many times, so I was happy to be able to try it. Yay for free samples!

Oh, this is good. If you’re someone who likes vanilla tea then give this one a shot. Lots of vanilla bean flavor. Kind of that richer fuller vanilla taste that coats the tongue. High yummy factor. As always, the base tea is a good one. It holds its own with the vanilla. It’s strong but not bitter or astringent. Good grief this is good. I’m thinking this could easily work its way into my normal morning tea rotation.

I still have quite a bit of Starry Night from Art of Tea, so I don’t think I’ll be ordering another vanilla tea too soon, but when I am ready to order it’ll be this one.

This is a very good blueberry green, but the water temp and timing have to be exact. If the water is too hot or the leaves are allowed to steep for longer than 90 seconds the tea becomes horribly bitter. Brewed properly this is a wonderful tea. Lots of blueberry with a great green tea base. I like how the vegetal flavor of the green tea pairs with the blueberry flavor. I tried it with and without sugar, and I prefer it without because the tea is wonderfully balanced on its own.

drank Boston by Harney & Sons

It’s raining and cool today, so I decided to make myself a cup of this for breakfast. I forgot how much I like the cranberry in this tea. It lends the perfect amount of tartness to the sweet almond flavor. Love this tea!!!

drank Sweet Potato Pie by Adagio Teas

Another tea from the tea box. I swear I’m almost through my small mountain of samples!!!

Moment of truth, I don’t like sweet potato pie. It’s a texture issue. So I was excited to try this tea because I could enjoy the taste of sweet potato pie without having to eat it. That’s a win, win in my book.

The tea is nice. Rich and earthy with just a hint of sweetness. I thought at first that the sweetness was honey, but now I’m thinking caramel. I’m not getting anything that says pastry. Added a bit of sugar which heightened the sweet potato and caramel flavors. It’s nice, but I think the tea was just as nice without the added sweetness. If I were to have this again I’d drink it straight and just enjoy the deep mix of flavors.

To this day, my family makes fun because I can’t stand mashed potatoes—the texture thing. I totally understand what you’re talking about. And bananas. Same reason. (Hmm…sweet potato and banana tea?)

drank Blood Orange by Zen Tea
1118 tasting notes

I received this as a sample with my last ZenTeaLife order. Blood oranges are one of my favorite fruits. I’m also big fan of citrus flavors in tea, so I have high hopes for this one.

Mmmm. I really like this. Plenty of orange flavor, but not so much that it hides the base tea. I wouldn’t swear that this is blood orange, but it does leave a nice tang on the tongue in much the same way orange juice does. I added some sugar and milk which turned this into a wonderful orange creamsicle treat. So good!

Oh yeah, I’ll definitely enjoy the rest of this sample, and it’s more than possible that I’ll add this to my next ZenTeaLife order. Which will be the next time they have a sale (sssh, don’t tell my husband!).

Sipdown!

I am sad, sad, sad to see this one go. Every cup, from start to finish, was a joy. I signed up to be notified if this tea is ever reblended, so maybe someday it’ll find its way back into my cup. For now, I’m enjoying one more cup of lemony, cake-y, yummy goodness.

Another “have to have” tea for me. I tried it iced for the first time, and while it was good I like it more hot. The wonderful bergamot and vanilla flavors become muted when it’s iced. They’re still there, but – blah.

As a hot tea this is easily my favorite EGC, so I’ll save this one for my mug and find a different EG for my iced tea glass.

Kittenna

Yeah, I think I iced (or chilled) an ECG once, and the creaminess just gets so muted. Much tastier warm.

tea-sipper

Yeah, this will definitely be the EGC I buy when I run out (probably sooner than many other kinds of teas).

drank Chocolate Chai by Wegmans
1118 tasting notes

So, I’m thinking this tea was reblended. It’s spicier than I remember. That’s not to say that it’s spicy, but it’s definitely more balanced between the tea, spice, and chocolate than what I previously had. The chocolate in this tea is great. The pieces of chocolate are nice and big, so once the tea has steeped there is no doubt that it’s a chocolate chai.

Bumping my rating up a bit. This was quite a bit better than the last time I had this tea.

drank Strawberry Cream by Zen Tea
1118 tasting notes

Made an order to ZenTeaLife for staple teas and this was one of them. Good grief this is some good stuff! Lots of strawberry and creamy vanilla. I love this hot, but as an iced tea it’s perfect for summer. So glad this is back in cupboard!
