This morning I was in a rush to get my son out the door and to camp, but I really needed one more cup of caffeine. I went digging through my tea bags and came up with this. While the tea was hot it was difficult to taste the almond. However, the base tea was excellent. Very smooth and rich. When the tea had a chance to cool a bit the sweet almond flavor arrived in a big way. It became something close to a dessert tea. The taste reminded me of biscotti or pastry. Delicious!

For such a little tea bag this is a big tea. I’m going to have to hunt down more of this one.

Sipdown (sort of) -

I brewed this for iced tea. I ended up overleafing in an attempt to use up the last of this tea. On top of using too much leaf, I also got distracted and allowed my infuser basket to sit in the water too long. Not surprising, I ended up with a rather bitter cup. This really was a nice tea, so in an attempt to do it justice I’m going to resteep the leaves in a larger container and see if I can make one last glass of iced tea that has all of the peach, apricot, and woodsy flavors I like. So a sipdown, but not.

Still one of my favorite vanilla teas. I only use the black tea and save the white tea stars to brew another time. The base tea is nothing amazing, but the vanilla is really good. Since discovering good vanilla teas it’s become difficult for me to have anything (drink or food) with artificial vanilla flavor. It has such a strange aftertaste. Thankfully, this tea has a very natural vanilla flavor. It’s rich and almost creamy.

The next time I make vanilla bean scones I’m thinking of substituting the water with an equal amount of this tea. I’m thinking it’ll add another layer of flavor that could be amazing.

Blueberry… I’m always on the hunt for a good blueberry tea. I used to think that I wanted an over the top blueberry flavor, or even blueberry muffin, but I’ve found that I like a good black tea with just enough blueberry flavor to make me smile. That’s what this tea delivers.

I’m not sure what base tea Adaigo uses, but I’m a fan. It’s strong enough to kick me into gear, but it’s not bitter (as long as it’s not over brewed). On top of the tea there is a blueberry flavor that’s all fruit. Not candy or jam. It’s so simple that at first I thought it wasn’t all that special, but before I knew it I was looking at the bottom of my cup and contemplating brewing up another one. It really is everything I want in a blueberry tea, tea and blueberry. :)

I had this one hot and then resteeped it and set it in the fridge to cool. Either way this is delicious. When it’s hot I get more of the caramel and bergamot flavors. As an iced tea, it’s all about the fruit and vanilla. I added a little sugar to my iced tea, and my oh my, I could drink this all day!

Actually, I can’t drink this all day because this is a sipdown. However, I will be ordering more of this when I place my next H&S order. That won’t be until this fall, but that’s ok since this is a tea that’s easy to enjoy year round.

This was a very nice EG. The base tea had strength and depth, which I liked. Otherwise this is exactly what it claimed to be – EG and lavender. I was happy that the bergamot was slightly stronger than the lavender. I’ve had a few EGs where flowers were added and the floral note dominated the cup. That’s definitely not what I’m looking for in and Earl Grey. Also, I was surprised to see vanilla and crème flavor on the list of ingredients. They were unnoticeable in my cup, but I think they’d make a nice addition. I did steep the tea for 3 minutes. Next time I think I’ll try a 2 minute steep to see if the vanilla flavor will make an appearance.

Had this one iced tonight. The floral note disappeared leaving just the passionfruit and a light but brisk base tea. It was soooo good. There’s no doubt that I’ll be drinking the rest of this tea either iced or cold brewed.

I had my last cup of this yesterday. The rest was sent as part of a swap package, and while I’ll miss this tea, I’m glad someone else is getting to try it. This has easily been my favorite banana tea to date!

Cold brewed this again. It’s really nice. Wonderfully smooth and clean. The rose flavor is very light this time, but I like that it gives the sencha a chance to shine. It’s perfect for a hot day like today.

Before I get into my thoughts on this tea I have to tell you that today has been an absolutely fabulous day. You see, my daughter has severe food allergies (anaphylactic shock, epi-pen, call the ambulance type allergies). When she was a year and a half old we did a food challenge to beef, and she broke out in hives after having 1/16th of a teaspoon of the stuff. Today at twelve (almost thirteen) years old she did another food challenge to beef and she passed! It’s not so much the fact that she can eat a steak that I’m thrilled about – although that is pretty awesome – rather it’s the fact that her quality of life will be that much better. It’s one less food that we have to worry about making her sick or possibly killing her. And the next time we go to a picnic she can eat a freaking hamburger just like everyone else. That’s huge to her! Food plays a major role in the way our culture entertains and celebrates itself, so she’s often felt like she’s on the outside looking in. While she is fiercely independent (heaven help me through the teenage years!) she’s also a kid who just wants to fit in. So this is big, and I’m excited for her!!! She still has other foods that she’s allergic to, but we’re hopeful that she’ll continue to outgrow at least some of them. More food challenges to come!

It was a bit more perfume-y than I was expecting, but once I got past the highly floral smell the taste was all passionfruit. The base tea was decent, but I had to concentrate to taste anything other than the fruit flavor. This isn’t exactly a negative. After all, it is Passionfruit. I enjoyed it hot, but I think I’ll like it even more iced.
