This was my after dinner tea. We cooked out, and I was loving all the smokey flavors in the food, so I decided to keep it going with this tea. It was also nice to have the mint to help settle my food. When I bought this tea I thought it would be one of my fall/winter teas, but I enjoyed it so much today and can see myself reaching for it at other cook outs and barbecues. I guess a good tea is good any time of year.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I’m sitting at my desk drinking a cup of this malty deliciousness when my son comes in and tells me happy Mother’s Day and that he is so glad he’s my son. It’s going to be a good day. :)

Oh, this is good. Really good. There is a definite salted caramel flavor that I’m loving. There is also a rich fruity note that floats around between sips. It lends a lot of depth and sweetness to the tea. I keep sipping and trying to place the flavor, but I can’t quite put my finger on it (ok, I cheated and looked at the tea description – caramelized plum. Yes.). I keep sipping and trying to think of how best to describe this, but all I’m coming up with is Wow. Yum. Amazing.

This one is a keeper.

drank Pear Spice by Design a Tea

Backlogging.

This was a custom blend from Design a Tea. I love pear flavored teas, and I thought the spice might lend a poached pear flavor. The tea I received had a lot of spice. So much so that I set the tea aside for several moths hoping the flavors would mellow a bit. It worked! I’ve found with a shorter steep (3 minutes or so) I get a nice pear flavor and the cinnamon and nutmeg from the spice in a much more balanced cup than I had when I first ordered the tea.

The next time I order from DAT I’m going to get pear tea with no additional flavors. I think the company has a wonderful pear flavor – very juicy and sweet – and Id rather have that than pear plus whatever else.

Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Tea of the morning. I love having this in my cup. It’s chocolaty and fully of wonderful malty notes. Plus it has a thick rich feel to it which makes it a wonderful tea to wake up with.

Between now and mid October one of my favorite things to do is sit on my porch after dinner, dishes, and homework is done and have some tea. Unless it is a super stormy night (and sometimes even then) I love having this quiet time just for me.

Tonight I decided this tea was perfect to enjoy as I sit out here looking at the moon and listening to the train rumble by. I’m still loving the lemongrass and mint combination. It’s unique but comforting. I like.

I like savory teas, and that’s just what this tea is. Apparently I also like fennel in tea. Never in a million years would I have thought that, but I like Verdant’s Holy Basil Spa Blend which has a strong fennel note, and this tea has a lot of fennel in it as well. I also like the anise note that’s present here. It’s noticeable but not overwhelming. I do wish the base tea were stronger. I can’t taste the tea at all which is a shame. I think with a better base tea this would be outstanding.

Not something I’d drink everyday, but I can see myself wanting a tea like this every now and then.

Tea of the morning. This is a nice Assam! Plenty of malt and a thick biscuity note. I like it a lot. If this is the Assam JOT uses when blending their Irish Breakfast then I might have to give that tea a try as well. This tea was perfect as a wake up tea. I’m thinking it’d be good iced as well.

It is indeed the Assam we use for the Irish Breakfast. If you like this one, I’m sure you would like it as well!

I haven’t had much luck with white teas, but this one is good. The taste is tea and honeydew, and although I don’t get the yogurt flavor there is a smoothness to the tea that could be considered creamy. Not something I’d order for myself, but it is very nice.

I received this tea in the Tea and Yarn swap over on Ravelry, and I’m so glad I did. This is delicious!

The tea is light with a sweet hay and wood note – I want to say it’s cedar wood, but I don’t think that’s it. The muscatel notes are present from start to finish but are also light. Everything seems to float and blend together with no rough notes or sharp astringency. This is a great afternoon tea.

I’m so glad I can add this one to my cupboard. Good stuff.
