From Pass the Stash TTB 2.0

This tea has received very little love from other Steepsters, but I am adoring it. There is the classic Earl Grey flavor with a good amount of bergamot. The bergamot is all citrus and very little floral. The smokey flavor follows right behind, and while it is smokey it’s not harsh. It also doesn’t overwhelm the bergamot at any point. This would be an excellent EG to have in my cupboard come winter.

Apple and rose… that is this tea, and I’m loving it. The apple has a cooked flavor rather than a crisp, fresh taste, but it still pairs with the rose very well. There is a hint of malt and a thickness to the tea that I’m really enjoying. It feels robust enough to be an autumn tea, but the rose flavor adds a light note. There is so much yum in my cup right now. I’m off to see how this one resteeps!

I like citrus flavored teas, and I love Darjeeling, so I have high hopes for this one.Honestly, I don’t know how I missed this one when Frank first offered it, but I’m happy to see it in the TTB.

Because it’s a Darjeeling I boiled the water and allowed it to cool to around 200 degrees. The first sip reminds me strongly of orange rid and does have a fair bit of astringency. I don’t consider some dryness a bad thing in a Darjeeling, so I’m good with this. As the tea cools some there is much more of the dreamsicle flavor which melds really well with the muscatel notes in the tea. Lots of bright orange flavor and a nice creaminess. This is definitely the golden spot for this tea. It does make me wonder if this would be a good cold brew. I’ll have to try that before passing this one along.

I’ve read several tasting notes on this tea, so when I took my first sip I was expecting malt, bread, and honey. What I got was honeysuckle and sweet potato. No complaints here – the flavor is amazing. I am surprised at how strong the floral note is, but the earthiness of the sweet potato note helps keep the tea from being too floral in character. As the tea cools the malty flavor appears. Oh, I’m really liking this. Such a beautiful tea!

This is an interesting Bi Luo Chun. There is a peachy flavor and a buttery note that reminds my of Oolong, but there is also the vegetal note that reminds me of snap beans. It seems like these flavors shouldn’t work together, but they do. Not only do they work, but they blend to create a very enjoyable tea. I’ve had multiple infusions of this now, and each cup has been consistently delicious.

I am really liking this tea. There are light fruit flower notes, and notes of stone fruit. The fruit note is peachy, but there is something that reminds me of plum as well. Then there is the honey note. This is another very nice honey tea, but the floral and fruit notes make it so much more. It’s a truly beautiful tea. This is one of those teas that I will make when I have the time to really enjoy all that the tea has to offer. Cup after cup (I did four infusions) the layers of flavor were so good. Winner!

Time to make room in my cupboard. I need more of this tea.

Iced tea of the night. It is still crazy hot here, and I decided I wanted something sweet and tropical tasting. I love the pineapple flavor in this tea. It’s juicy, bright, and wonderfully sweet. The lightly vegetal flavor of the green tea base is also apparent, and the two flavors blend very well. Also, awesome as an iced tea. I know I’ve said that before, but deserves to be said again.

This tea reminds me of honey oat bread. The sweetness is stronger than I was expecting, but in the most delightful way. There is a sweet, deep honey flavor without it being cloyingly sweet or artificial tasting. There is also a hint of oat and spice that give this tea a wonderful burst of flavor at the end of the sip. There were hints of other sweetness – raisin and stone fruits – but the honey note is the star.

This is a tea I’d love to serve at my next tea party. I can see this being a real crowd pleaser and adaptable to many palates. Although I did not add sugar to my cup I can see it holding sugar well. I think milk would cover up a lot of the flavors in this tea.

This has become another favorite. I really like the lemon pudding flavor this tea has. It’s light but full of flavor while keeping it’s basic Earl Grey feel. Good stuff. I realized I’m starting to get a set of favorite Earl Greys in my cupboard, and I am very happy with my selection. I have everything from Twinnings Lady Grey, to this lovely, to Zen Tea’s EGC, and I adore each one for different reasons. This tea I like because it has a great EG and lemon flavor. It seems like there are a million lemon flavored teas out there, but most of them are too harsh/bitter for me. This one has a softness and a great creamy note from the vanilla that makes it a winner in my book.

Yay for Earl Greys in all their lovely forms!

It’s 2pm here, and this is my first tea of the day. Yes, it’s been that kinda crazy around here.

Vanilla tea is so comforting to me. It’s simple but indulgent at the same time, and sometimes (like today) it’s exactly what I need to help me relax for a few minutes. I’m very fond of the base tea of this one now. It’s smooth and well balanced against the vanilla. No funky aftertaste. No bitterness. I’m running really low on this one, so a trip to the tea shop may be in order later this week.
