618 Tasting Notes
I thought that I would get a much richer, more flavorful cup according to other tasting notes. I can’t taste ANY of the flavors that Tula Teas mentions. It seems like a basic oolong with nothing that makes me run back to buy more. Not bad, just basic and a bit plain.
[Backlog] – I’ve had this tea a couple of times and this most recent will likely be my last. It smells like it’s rich, creamy and sweet.. but the taste offers something different. The flavor is just a bit too artificial for me. I do like flavored teas, but this one is a bit too fake.
Preparation
This is a very interesting tea with many layers. The dry leaf smells like seaweed! Brewed, it still has that seaweed scent, but mixed with roasted grains, sesame and buckwheat. The taste is a kind of dark grass or faint seaweed paired with that roasted flavor. The end of the sip is mostly an astringent note that somehow turns into a wood flavor, similar to rooibos, but much more robust. I love rooibos and its woody flavor, but when it’s paired with a roasted note, I’m not really a fan. This cup is drinkable, but a bit too dark and roasty for me.
If you’re a fan of green/roasted oolongs, I’d be happy to trade the rest of the tea!
Preparation
I had a lovely afternoon shopping with my mom. I bought a nice set of bracelets, some candles and this tea. I brewed a cup of this tea and added a splash of milk. This is a solid, bold tea. The milk pairs perfectly and I’m really enjoying it. This would be an ideal cup for the morning, afternoon or evening. I might even have a second! Delicious.
Preparation
[Backlog] – Now as much as I love tea, I do enjoy a good cup of coffee. I thought that this tea would be delicious.. coffee & tea – two wonderful creations. Together? Not so tasty. I couldn’t drink more than a few sips of this. It was WAY too bitter and quite frankly, it was a bit gross. For now, I think I’ll keep my tea and coffee in separate cups!
I brought this tea with me to class today and paired it with a muffin that a fellow student shared. The muffin was delicious and actually worked well with the tea. I’m not crazy about Earl Grey, but this was a relatively solid cup. I liked how I could taste the base of the tea which seemed smooth and bitter at the same time. I have a feeling I would like this tea more if I enjoyed drinking Earl Grey more often.
[Backlog] – I remember wanting to try this because it sounded absolutely decadent. I was really unimpressed with the lack of flavor. Maybe it needed milk or sugar, but I just remember tasting a bitter black tea with very little creaminess, sweetness or dessert-like qualities.
