My best friend came over yesterday and I asked her to pick from my sample stash sent from companies. She pulled out something I haven’t drank for a reason… CEYLON. EWWWW.
Stuff taste so bitter to me. Personal preference for sure. This is the same with Assam. Still waiting to find one of each I like, but it’ll be rough because I have such a sweet tooth that some candy even taste bitter to me at times; this is not a good thing. I read somewhere that sugar is more addictive than cocaine, anyone know this so I don’t have to search the web to find out.

Are you a bitter super taster maybe?

Stephanie

Interesting that you like sheng since it can be quite bitter too. Butiki had some very nice Assam teas, I bet you would have liked them.

I haven’t liked any of the Assams from Butiki I’ve tried so far, which is a shame because they sounded so delicious.

The sheng I drink isn’t bitter though. Sheng can be bitter, but I find the ones that are not. I’ve tried all the recommended Assam type teas and I have yet to enjoy one :/

Im trying to think of the teas that I had when I was in Sri Lanka – the one I remember most was a high quality low-grown one from Dimbula, but I’m not sure if it was the fact it was a SFTGFOP1 or that it was from Dimbula or low-grown which made it stand out as nice, but its the one I remember.

Perhaps you are a supertaster:

I’m pretty sure I am not since bitterness doesn’t always bother me, but anyway… The SFTGFOP1 I had from The Finest Brew is one of my favorite teas ever.
