345 Tasting Notes
I was excited to try this tea, it smells so good in the bag and looks fun with popcorn pieces and what I thought was coco puffs.
First sip tasted a little buttery but it smelled and tasted strange, some kind of seasoning. I tried to keep an open mind about it but I could not finish the cup. I poked at the coco puff that looked like a chickpea after being steeped and it was kind of gooey. I even tasted it, big mistake it was a concentrated taste of this strange tasting tea.
After coming on here I found out it was some kind of caramel ball and 1 out 3 people enjoyed it with milk and sugar. I gave it another chance, I had to add more sugar than I ever felt comfortable adding and I was able to get 1 sip in-between other sips taste like a caramel popcorn with my eyes closed, I did not finish this cup either. If I ever feel brave enough to try this again I will do it without the caramel ball. Thanks moraiwe for the experience and I was glad to see you did not like it either.
Adding: I had some caramel popcorn this weekend and I was surprised how much it reminded me of this tea. Movie theater seasoning peaking through the not completely caramel covered almost burnt popcorn. Not the best caramel popcorn :(
Updating my cupboard and realized I already finished my sample size bag last week. I need to remember and shake the bag up next time, my last cup tasted like a lot of pepper. It was still good and left me wanting more.
I made many lattes with this tea for me and the husband. I sweetened it with brown sugar and ground Trader Joes cinnamon and sugar on top. I think the combination enhanced the creme brulee taste and smell. I look forward to getting more before eggnog is back in season and trying the recipe for a Chai Nog Latte they posted on YouTube.
I tried this the other day cause I really needed the help of caffeine. I was expecting to taste more chocolate, so was a little disappointed but happy to get the caffeine, it did its job.
Tonight I finished my sample and was able to appreciate it more because I knew what to expect, I did not use boiling water like last time and I used more milk than I normally would have to account for not heating enough water. It was great mmmm roasted hazelnut latte, I would drink it again! Maybe buy, not sure. Thanks moraiwe!
Thanks Eva! I never would have thought to try this because the few apple teas I have tried did not smell or taste that great (bag tea). The dry leave smells like fresh sweet apples and it taste like a tangy apple dipped in a little caramel and still smells wonderful, I keep sticking my nose in the cup because I can’t believe how good this smells compared to the other teas I have tried and I bet this taste even better with a tiny bit of sugar.
I wish I liked fig because I taste a lot of fig and toasted nuts. Figs have never interested me; they always remind me of “healthy” cookies my grandmother would make. This tea has helped confirm that. I think next time I will make sure there is no dry fig and see how that goes. Thanks moraiwe for the sample, I’m glad I got a chance to try this.
I received 3 cups worth from BrewTEAlly ’s Sale. I don’t always like berry teas and only sometimes hibiscus when it is iced because of how tart they can be but I thought it would be fun just to say I tried it and the story behind it was neat.
1st cup a few weeks ago (memory of) – tart, strawberry and other stuff not sure but happy to have a few cups for when the mood strikes next.
2nd cup last night- busy doing something and not paying attention while drinking it, tart, and strawberry and cinnamon in the background . I did not realize cinnamon would work with strawberry.
3rd cup tonight- with a splash of milk, tart strawberry light cinnamon in the background and pastry.
What, this taste like a berry filled pastry I had a few days ago only better.
Smells light in chai spice, interestingly smoky or maybe it’s malty (still not sure what that is) and stronger in ginger than I would have expected in a tea that has a chocolate chai(I did not taste chocolate). When it cools it taste and smells like spiced apple cider. My husband loves chai and I meant to make this and share with him. That didn’t happen. I’m so confused, I finished my surprise sample from MissB because I keep trying to figure it out(about a month ago). I saved less than half a teaspoon so I could try it later and hopefully figure it out and later was tonight and I still have not figured it out. I like it, I think I just made it harder than it needed to be. Thanks MissB!
I already finished my 3 cup sample I got and don’t want to forget I tried this. Going off of my memory from a week ago, I would get this if I needed an Earl Grey Creme and was already purchasing something else. More vanilla than bergamot and mellow. I enjoyed every cup I had .
Thank you MissB! I was excited when MissB included this little surprise in my order last month because Coconut Cream Pie is my favorite pie. I don’t eat it very often because my husband does not like coconut and I would end up eating the whole pie and be in a sugar comma for days. I liked it enough that I purchased more from BrewTeally
Because this lacks all the artificial ingredients DAVIDs Birthday Cake has, I secretly wanted my son to like this more but, he does not. Maybe he does not love coconut as much as I do. That’s okay, I don’t have to share. I live in Texas and hot tea drinking season is almost over and this is wonderful as an iced latte. It has an orange cream color when you add milk and taste creamy and coconuty .
“I poked at the coco puff that looked like a chickpea after being steeped and it was kind of gooey. I even tasted it, big mistake it was a concentrated taste of this strange tasting tea.” – I’m sorry, but the way I imagined the whole scene, it made me laugh :D :D
I was hoping you’d be in the camp that liked it. Sorry to hear it was a similar icky experience for you too
Haha Kat_Marie, I’m glad you got a laugh. If only I read moraiwe’s tasting note first, she nibbled at the “coco puff”
It’s ok moraiwe, it was fun! We know at least one person likes it so there must be more.
Yeah, whatever that weird chickpea ball is, it’s definitely the culprit that ruins this tea. I couldn’t drink it at all. Tasted like dish soap.
