345 Tasting Notes
I was excited to get a few red leaf matcha samples in my mystery pack from MissB and I knew right away I would have this one on St Patrick’s Day. I did and then I had it again tonight. Both times I used 6 oz organic whole milk shaken in a mason jar with 2 ice cubes. They were both yummy but the first one did not taste like Irish Cream. Today I left it in the fridge after preparing it for about an hour and it could just be my imagination but I felt like I could taste a little Irish Cream this time. Thanks MissB
It taste familiar not sure what from.
Bitter sweet almond, I defiantly taste rooibos and it made me thirsty. Maybe that is why I would rather drink a cup of hot water.
Someone said it taste better iced and sweetened. So, I decided to cold brewing it overnight and see how that goes.
Edit: This does taste good iced, It did not give me that thirsty feeling as much and it was sweet enough for me so I did not add any sweetener. I do love almond and I’m learning to enjoy rooibos. Thanks MissB
This was perfect for me last night, I added some honey(don’t know the last time I did that) it was a wonderful happy cup of sweet bergamot. I don’t know if I put more honey than I thought last night or I prepared it differently but it was not the same tonight. Maybe I was not in the mood for it tonight like I thought. Thank you MissB for including this in the mystery pack.
I don’t know where I got it in my head that this had coconut flavoring. I even convinced myself I could taste the coconut. After coming here and realizing there is no coconut I decided it was a good idea to have another cup.
I’m a weirdo, this taste nothing like coconut. Berry nutty, the cranberry flavoring is nice, I’m glad it is not like pucker your cheeks like eating a fresh cranberry. This is an easy tea to drink whenever. I only wish I didn’t waste the first two cups trying to find coconut. Thank you VariaTEA for sharing!
Thank you Carl Who for the sweet care package you sent my son of Doctor Who books and tea. He was very happy receiving a package with his name:) He has already told me what tea of “his” he wants to send you:)
We had this twice today: Luckily he likes sharing so I could have some.
First time we had it was right after school when he opened the package. I over steeped it by a good 20+mins and he loved how tart it was “Oooh Wow” in a deep “this is so good” voice (he’s eleven, it was not a manly voice yet). He did not think he would like it based off the smell from the bag. I thought it smelled nice like sweet fruit and almond extract that I love in sugar cookies. The second time we had it was right before bed while we re-watched the episode when the 10th doctor dies, I still shed a few tears. This time I only went a few minutes over the steeping time and I enjoyed the not so puckering tart part and it was easier to notice the sweetness of fruit and almond flavor. The son liked this cup but prefers the first one more. So I will need to remember this for the future. Thank you so much Carol Who!
I noticed one tea bag of this added to the Tea&Cards TTB, I secretly wanted it but did not think I had a chance on it making it to me. So, I was extra excited to get this in my mystery pack from MissB. I wanted to try this because it has been compared to red hot candies just like DAVIDsTea Hot Lips green tea that I like.
At first I did not want to like it more than Hot Lips but I think I do. Why? Because, I almost always choose a black tea over green, it is surprisingly naturally sweet and it’s fun to drink. It reminds me even more of red hots because of the sweet that is already there. Thanks MissB
I was so happy that Phil the groundhog saw his shadow because
1) I won a Chai Sampler from Adagio for guessing correctly
2) I get “6 more weeks” of hot tea drinking weather, with this being my first hot tea drinking season I don’t want it to end.
Before this obsession happened I only drank hot tea when I was sick and even then I would rather not. I mostly drank iced coffee and maybe hot 2 weeks out of the year. So I’m not sure where tea will fall in my life during the hot summer days in Texas.
I made this on the stove top for the husband and me this morning with brown sugar and milk. It was a nice cozy drink with a good amount of warming spice and it was free! The chai loving husband liked it so I may consider getting more but he seems to be just as happy with Stash’s Double Spice Chai teabag. I will have to try making it iced, my husbands favorite way to drink it.
I know it sounds weird but people all over the world drink hot tea all year around. I, myself, drink hot tea in the summer as well as iced tea.
Thank you EvaGrimm for the cutest little sample. I was planning on saving it forever but since I’m thinking about getting Bananas Foster, I thought I should first see how 52teas does banana. This is yum, I bet it would be even better with the coconut creamer I learned about from OMGsrsly. This does not remind me of any banana pudding I have ever had, this is more creamy vanilla coconut with a little banana. I love coconut!
It’s still crazy for my brain when I drink a tea that taste like coffee.
This reminds me of instant flavored coffee or coffee with flavored creamer: Hazelnut and Chocolate. I can also see how moraiwe says it taste like chocolate covered espresso beans. I think I like it enough to order more; I’m just not sure if it will be 50g or another sample size. I plan on trying it iced to help decide the size. It’s still weird how much this reminds me of flavored coffee.
Edit: Yum, just made it iced. I’m going to be buying at least a 50g bag before Summer gets here.
