97 Tasting Notes
Wow, this is lovely! Beautiful orange taste, super citrusy with the right amount of vanilla in the background to balance it out. Reminds me a lot of Orange Dolce from Mighty Leaf, which was stronger in taste but I also adored.
Maybe I have a soft spot for orange teas…hmm, I should get more of them!
Thank you to the ever so lovely keychange for this tea! ♥♥♥ You are absolutely wonderful!
Preparation
I’ve heard of this being compared to Sugar and Spice before, and I’d say that’s pretty much dead on but without the zest of the cinnamon. All I could really taste was sweet, to be honest – but the glittery effect was quite pretty.
Overall, not a bad tea and something I’d definitely drink again if I were in the mood for a more toned down Sugar and Spice. Really nothing special about it though.
Preparation
This is actually extremely flavourful! The chocolate is very deeply flavoured, with dark undertones and a little tiny bit of spice from the chai. It feels almost creamy without any cream. Super rich!
This tastes better and richer than a lot of the loose leaf higher grade quality chocolate teas I’ve had – I’m pleasantly surprised. Extremely surprised, actually.
Thank you Missb for sending me an almost entire box of this! Yaaay!
Preparation
This tea was really, really good! Seriously! You guys need to get some…I’m craving it again right now actually! Might have to stock up on this.
It’s just so intensely, richly chocolatey…it rivals even Davids or DTT in the chocolate department. Almost felt like I was drinking a thick hot chocolate.
My daughter’s Dad loves this stuff, and so I bought some to stock the house for him. He’s had other things though the past few times he’s visited, so I thought it was time to pass it along. So glad you enjoyed it! It’s really inexpensive stuff, too.
Finally, a tea I can drink! My tea experiences just haven’t been too peachy today.
I’m definitely getting a cake flavour from this. Very sweet, although I wouldn’t call it an experience much akin to biting into one. The pineapple is there, but I’m getting very little of the cherry. The aftertaste is slightly astringent and tart – seems like the fruit takes more of a back seat to the cake flavour.
This reminds me of Davids Coffee Cake a great deal – just not as heavy on the sweetness. Not bad.
Preparation
This tea is courtesy of the amazing Missb! Thank you!
It smells rather good, but to be honest the chocolate flavour falls completely flat. It ends up tasting more like paper or…stale? Like very stale chocolate? Kinda feels like I’m drinking a cardboard box. :( I’m getting a slight hint of sweet and nutty from a fake hazelnut flavour, but there’s very little depth to the tea overall. Mostly I just taste stale paper. Nope.
Preparation
I think DavidsTea has the only chocolate tea blends I can drink. Anything else tastes like the super cheap hot cocoa that is like someone dipped a hershey bar into hot water just ever so slightly.
I have no idea if that made sense but yea.
I’ve also had good experiences with Della Terra’s chocolate teas. And a couple of the ones from Teavana aren’t bad – Slimful Chocolate Decadence being one of them. But yeah, Davids tends to have the best of the best!
I still need to try della. One of these days I’ll bite. I was going to place an order recently but then Davids announced their cherry blossom tea is coming back.
First ever sipdown!
I got this as a sample in a DavidsTea order given to me by a wonderful person. :) I’m not much of a green tea person, but I figured I’d give it a try. Couldn’t hurt, right?
Actually, while I probably wouldn’t buy it, it’s not bad. You can definitely taste the walnuts and that overshadows the green tea taste that I don’t really care for. This is nothing I’d ever crave, though.
Preparation
This was vile on so, so many levels.
First of all, WHY SO MUCH TISANE. And not even tisane that looks pretty! It looked absolutely disgusting, but smelled nice. Kind of like strawberry perfume mixed with flowers.
The taste was like drinking water from a vase. Absolutely disgusting. Vile vile vile.
I’m disappointed, Teavana. Now I know why I was putting this one off. Somehow I knew this wouldn’t be good.
Preparation
Ahhh – this tea was even better this morning than I remembered it being before. Delicious and still tasting just like a sweet Coffee Crisp bar. I might eventually end up getting a tin of this when I get some money. This was just a wonderful way to start off my morning and made my day so much more bearable.
Steeped twice – both steeps were amazing.
Preparation
While my grandmother is sitting on a beach in Cuba – scratch that, she’s most likely in her hotel room complaining about having to be there for free – I’m stuck in -40C weather. Not that I’m bitter or anything….* grumble *
Had this today and it made my day so much better. Steeped it 4 times.
Preparation
Cayo largo? It’s nice and quiet there with only @4 resorts. The fly ins gorgeous. But it is pretty isolated. You really have to want a beach vacation. I’d be jealous too! On the other hand, I can’t say I’ve had nice tea in Cuba, usually just chamomile. They do have some awesome coffee. Hope your Grandma has a nice time!
I’d be happy with any vacation right now, haha! I believe it’s somewhere called Santa Maria or something though? She only ran it by me once.
I’ve heard of Cuban coffee being very good!
Thanks, I hope she does too!
Opposite coast! I can imagine! This is the first real winter that I remember in a long time. Pretty spoiled, right? Oh well, to live vicariously through friends and relatives. One of my friends is on a ship circumnavigating Africa, another is in the Philippines, another in Mumbai…I wish.
I’ve been to Santa Maria (and Cayo Largo, amongst other places in Cuba). Beautiful, remote little place. Not much to do, but if you want a vacation where you sit on the beach, walk on the beach, drink on the beach, and eat on the beach it’s the place for you!
Your grandmother sounds like my dad. Always complaining about everything on vacation, and then the very last second right before stepping on the plane to come home the vacation is finished with “that was a nice time. I can’t believe it’s over so soon.” WE ALL CAN.
This tea was a little odd – I kept getting butter notes from it and zero rum! Made me feel like I was drinking smooth butter…kinda turned me off in a way. Somehow I think the lavender and coconut mixed is the culprit of that one :P
As my cup cooled down though, I started getting a pleasant nutty taste with a hint of sweetness from the vanilla and it made the cup a lot easier to drink.
Would I buy this again? Errr…no. But it’s honestly not bad if you don’t drink it right away.
I’m glad you liked it!!
hmm i’ve never tried orange dolce…keep meaning to. heh
The marketing for this was a big part of why I liked it! http://www.davidstea.com/orange-blossom
It’s unicorn tea! (so silly)
@keychange: It couldn’t have been possible without you! :)
@Sil: Give it a try – it’s delicious! If you like citrus tea, you won’t be disappointed.
@Cavo: I just simply adore that picture – it’s partly the reason why I wanted to try the tea haha :P
I love this one, especially for evenings when I don’t want caffeine. It’s rare I find a rooibos tea I like, but this is one. I try to have some on hand all the time for when the mood strikes.
And I love that pic too!
