558 Tasting Notes
Such a beautiful tea for this time of year. I love all of the vibrant colors from the flower petals and dried fruit. The sweet nutty flavor and spicy flavors are really mixing well together. This is very nice! I’ve been using more tea than called for (about 1TB per 8oz, rather than 1tsp) due to the amount of fruit and other stuff mixed in with this tea. It is really full of spice and fruit goodness this way!
Backlogging from Christmas Day.
I’ve been drinking this tea all day as the sweet mint flavor is calming my stomach and clearing my sinuses. This is helping me get through my cold quite nicely. I’m nearly through with the box as I’ve been drinking this by the pot full and like it double strength (two bags per 6oz). Hoping I can find another box at Walmart before they are all gone!
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it! I hope everyone is having an enjoyable holiday.
I love the spicy gingerbread aroma coming through as this tea steeps. I wish I cold write more about the taste, but as I have come down with a decent head cold, I am not able to taste much of this tea. I think I will stick to spice or herbal teas in hopes they may clear my throat and nose.
Even better than orange juice is Pineapple Juice. Pineapple juice is not only loaded with vitamin C but it has the enzyme bromelain that helps to break up proteins (another reason why it’s a top notch choice for topping a pizza) which, in my opinion works even better than otc mucus relief products.
Thankfully the westin we are staying at had tea other than just lipton. I chose this as I knew it would help calm my nerves and mind during all the last minute pre holiday get together jitters. It even soothed my stomach which was off due to having dinner at 2am. Isn’t holiday travel fun? Wishing everyone a happy holiday and safe travels!
There are so many colors to this tea blend! There are crimson cranberries, papaya and apple chunks, what looks to be almond slivers, blue and pink flower petals and probably more that I can’t identify.
This brews up a bit cloudy and lighter than I imagined using 2tsp for 12oz. It tastes like a fruity mulled cider, without the cider if that makes any sense? It isn’t apple-y but it is sweet and fruity. I really am enjoying the taste of this tea. I just hope the caffeine doesn’t hit me soon and keep me up all night.
Preparation
On the 9th day of Christmas, 52teas gave to me, Cinnamon Raisin Toast Flavored Black Tea.
I was so excited to see this in the sampler as I haven’t purchased it, but I’ve been eyeing everyone’s notes and drooling over this one for quite awhile. I just haven’t caved as it wasn’t a limited edition tea, so it wasn’t one I was worried about getting before it’s gone.
I drank this this morning on my way to work, and thought the cinnamon and toast flavors came out well. I could taste the sweetness of the raisins, which is amazing btw. I think I like this tea better than the toast itself. I can’t stand raisins, unless they are covered in yogurt or chocolate, then they are bearable, but I love the scent and flavor they added to this tea. I hope to order a pouch of this to keep around for the rest of the cooler months. Who am I kidding, the frigid cold months, left of winter.
I was happy to see this tea in the 12 days of Christmas sampler as I wanted to give it another try. I steeped up two teaspoons with boiling water and only infused for 3 minutes. It was getting pretty dark, so I stopped.
I wish I could like this tea, but there is just something off about it to me. Maybe it is the flavor of the roasted mate, as I have tried other roasted mate’s and not enjoyed them to a greater extent of dissatisfaction than this tea. I taste the cocoa flavor, and that is enjoyable, but there is some off note in the flavor that I just don’t get. Ah, well, there are many more teas out there!
After a day full of errands I arrived back at my apartment to fin my mailbox stuffed with A&D tea. I really wanted to try this one first because I have another Jasmine tea coming from Mighty Leaf tomorrow. I wanted to see how this lived up to how I remember that tea.
I have to say, I love A&D’s packaging. Such bright vibrant, detailed labels (hippie chick with an afro on this tin, amazing!). I brewed 2 tsps in 12oz water at 175F.
I am enjoying the strength of the jasmine flavor in this. It doesn’t taste perfumey, it tastes sweet, smooth and floral (as it should). The base tea is sweet and melds well with the jasmine flavors.
I will have to do a side by side comparison of the two jasmine’s to determine which I like more, although I’m not sure it matters, as I like both, and this is a limited tea. Nice job with this blend DFT!
Preparation
After reading so many tasting notes about so many fellow steepsterites getting colds, and stuffy heads, I figured this tea sounded like a good clear my head tea for this afternoon. Mighty Leaf claims this has a high dose of antioxidants and that is just what my body needs right now. I hope to make it at least through Christmas without getting sick. Only a few more days to make it.
About this tea, it certainly smells of lemongrass. The taste is sweet and grassy lemon grass with warm ginger running through it. I’m not getting much of the tropical fruits, but there is more to the tea, something that gives it a fullness on the tongue. I wish there was more of a tart citrus lemon to this, it is quite medicinal with just the lemongrass and ginger coming through.
