This was my tea of choice at work for the last two days. I didn’t write a tasting note yesterday because I didn’t know what to day. I’m not sure if I’ve figured that out yet. This tea confuses me. Most of the straight blacks I’ve tried have been either: A> mild and astringent and I hated them or B> bold, malty, chocolatey and I really like it. This is somewhere in between.
The dry leaves smell like dried cherries. It’s a light black tea, but not astringent. There is not a hint of malt or chocolate. It’s just a nice light black tea. I don’t know how else to explain it. I didn’t get any fruity taste, I’m not sure what it tastes like other than black tea with out any of the usual notes that I get.
All in all I like it, but I don’t LOVE it. In general I’ve been happy with the Tealux straight teas that I’ve tried.
