Thank you Vanilla Beans for sending me this awesome sample as well :)

This one smells interesting. Not necessarily good or bad. Just interesting. It also brews up a deep red colour.

Well it isn’t Pineapple Oolong or Aloha Pu’erh bad, but not my favourite.

Thanks again Vanilla Beans!

Thanks to Vanilla Beans for this one :) I’ve been wanting to try this for quite some time but because it was an online exclusive and cost an arm and a leg I just couldn’t bring myself to get it.

This one is lovely. I much prefer this blueberry taste over Blueberry Jam. This one seems to be much more “true” blueberry. The combination of blueberries and white tea is excellent. It’s really too bad Davids is getting rid of this one.

Yes! I received my order from Red Leaf Tea today!

Yum! Need I say more? I got the delicate flavour and it’s delicious. I can’t say I’ve tried Bavarian Cream anything before, well that I know of. It’s so nice to have a sweetness added to the matchas. I’m trying it cold-brewed with ice and milk but I’m quite excited to also try this one traditionally brewed.

drank Merry Cranberry by DAVIDsTEA

This tea smells pretty good. I’ve learned I enjoy cranberry in tea – Cranberry Pear and Prairie Berry. This one has a smell of spiciness as well.

For such a heavy seeming tea this has a nice light flavour. I’m guessing that spice I’m tasting is the star anise but I’m not completely sure. Whatever the spiciness is, it’s making it very holiday-like. Certainly not a tea I could drink all the time. It is delicious though.

drank Green Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

I love the natural smell! Maybe it’s all the teas I’ve been trying out lately with a million different flavours but I’m really appreciating and savouring every sip of straight tea I’ve had the last few days. Black, white, green, guayusa. You name it. Straight and unflavoured has been awesome.

Ahh no medicinal/alcohol taste. YES! There’s a hint of syrupy sweetness to this one that’s quite nice. Well done Davids.

Kasumi no Chajin

Straight and unflavoured has always been my fav.

Kasumi no Chajin

there are many times I wonder why I drink anything except unflavored and my simple mint blends

Courtney

I’ve been wondering that the last few days as well haha.

drank Green and Fruity by DAVIDsTEA

I smell that familiar “alcohol” scent I’ve been finding with the rooibos. Not good. I picked up some Green Rooibos from Davids and have yet to try it. Hopefully I’ll enjoy that one.

Perhaps if I add some honey to these different rooibos I’m trying it would help?

This one would be delicious were it not for that bizarre “alcohol” taste. Does anyone know what that is/had a similar experience? I didn’t find much information when I googled it.

Nicole

Not alcohol per se but to me rooibos always tastes like medicine. I haven’t found a way to disguise the taste yet. Some blends are better than others at masking it.

mrs.stenhouse12

How long do you steep for? I usually do 5 mins for all my rooibos and i haven’t noticed anything like that, I might not pay attention enough to the rooibos smell though :)

Courtney

I have been doing 4 minutes MissLena12 for fear of over-steeping it. Yes perhaps more medicinal Nicole. It’s really bothering me because I can taste the good tastes underneath but that is ruining it for me. The only ones I can handle thus far have been Orange Blossom and Alpine Punch. But one cup is more than enough, after that the scent turns me off.

mrs.stenhouse12

Hmm interesting, well I saw you enjoyed the plain green at least, so maybe it’s a flavoring clash of some sort, happy you liked the plain! It’s very fresh and different but good :D

drank Mango Madness by DAVIDsTEA
1397 tasting notes

This one smells so deliciously fruity. But nothing like mango. More like citrus. Some of these fruity teas I’m sure are better on ice. This one almost looks like it should be a herbal there’s so much fruit and almost no white tea leaves.

There’s a lovely sweetness at the end of the sip but I’m still not sure I’m getting any mango. The more I drink the more I don’t think this is a tea for me. I’ll have to chill it before I throw in the towel.

Ooh this is nutty and I’m enjoying it. These nut teas keep surprising me. Never did I think I’d enjoy a nut tea.

I’ve been looking forward to trying this one in my quest to find an Earl Grey (or variation of) I enjoy. This one seems hopeful.

I’m enjoying the scent (as much as possible with the bergamot). I like that there’s a hint of orange and the bergamot isn’t knock-you-over strong.

I love how light the green teas can be. This one is no exception. It’s so tricky with an Earl Grey smell and a green tea taste. I like it.

drank Alpine Punch by DAVIDsTEA

I like the smell of this one. It could be a little toned down but overall pretty good.

This isn’t bad. There’s a trend I’m finding with rooibos, in that I’m tasting what seems like alcohol. Not really loving that. Perhaps I’m steeping it too long? Or not long enough? I steep on the short end of what’s recommended on the package (usually 4 mins). Hmm.

However, the “alcohol” taste is not too apparent here (much worse in Creme Brulee) so I can manage and enjoy this one. Also reminiscent of a not so in-your-face Amaretto from DavidsTea.

Shmiracles

this is one of those teas that didn’t call out to me. and i just kept ignoring it. until it came in a sample pack and i was like ‘okay i’ll try this why not’.
and who knows, maybe because i had such low expectations of it, but i remember being really surprised and thrilled with it’s taste!
now i save what little bit i have left for special evenings. savoring each sip.

Bio

I love black tea and this is usually what’s in my mug. I’m also happy to enjoy a cup of green or red rooibos, herbals, oolongs (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted), whites, and subtly flavoured greens.

Likes:
Raspberry, strawberry, peach, apricot, rhubarb, passionfruit, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it.

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan and have an allergy to potatoes, so I avoid any animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I’ll happily pick them out of blends).
