865 Tasting Notes
Inspired by TeaEqualsBliss yesterday, I did some experimenting and used half (1/2tsp) of this and half Tipu’s instant chai. Served clean.
Hm. Interesting. The flavor profile is layered. The chai rises to the top, the coffee sinks to the bottom and grounds the tea, while the caramel mixes between the two. The caramel isn’t as strong as I’d like it, but I think that’s just because I’ve been congested for 11 days and the other 2 flavors are easier to pick up on. A good cuppa!
Preparation
Unfortunately the whole reason I revisited this was because I’ve finally had Adagio’s version… but my tasting note for that was deleted. :( Good news is I’m finally getting the apple. I would give it a 100, but there’s a slight spice that I’m not sure should be there for a candied apple- although it’s very yummy.
Preparation
I need to start drinking coconut water because of its high dose of electrolytes. But I HATE coconut. So I decided to add matcha to it. Everything’s better w/ matcha, right? I took a small sip of it before adding the matcha and shockingly it doesn’t really taste like coconut. It’s REALLY sweet (I can’t believe companies actually sweeten this) and has a slightly off taste I can’t place. Maybe this won’t be so bad because I like matcha lemonade.
Ok… BAD idea. I’m not sure how or why, but matcha made this worse! I had to chug it really fast and gaged when I was done. BAD, BAD, BAD idea. Can someone please give me an idea for a coconut water/matcha combo that won’t make me want to puke?
Maybe add a bit of Orange juice or pineapple juice? I think the citrus would cut the coconut flavor. I haven’t tried it though.
I’m thinking lemon. It already has PLENTY of sweetness to be “lemonade-esque”. Although I’ve already tried once to make it better and failed miserably lol.
NOTE: I do know there are differences in the Coconut Milk and Coconut Water…and the electrolytes are not the same in both but just some more coconut options for you that may even be interchangeable with the milk VS the water, too…
Here are some clickable recipes, too!

Coconut milk and possilbly coconut butter (never heard of coconut butter lol) would actually taste like coconut. I wonder if coconut water is highest in electrolytes of the 3. Will check out the link it see if there’s a way to salvage it. Thanks.
None of those even sound good lol. Also I need to consume a full serving (8oz. so that may be kind of hard if I were to cook w/ it. Not sure if the electrolytes would be damaged w/ heat either. I’m thinking 1 cup coconut water, 4TB lemon juice 1 cup of frozen unsweetened berries and 2tsp matcha… I have GOT to find a cheaper matcha since I go thru so much lol.
Mango juice is the classic coconut water additive. It actually doesn’t take much to cover the coconut taste. Pomagranate or acai juices are quite stong in flavor and more in line with the nutrition slant of your despairs. Some hemp milk tends to be strong enough too.
Ha, I love matcha coconut water! XD Sometimes I go on extra bike rides to justify a second glass. Maybe you have to Floridan/Hawai’ian?
I believe Coconut WATER does have the most electrolytes, I think!! :) LOTS Of other coconut products out there too! But I do believe the WATER is the highest…Have you heard of Ani Phyo? She’s a Raw Foods Cookbook Author…she does a lot with Coconut waters and milks!
Just the water has high levels of ptassium and magnesium. The milk only has 80-90 mg potassium. Water has about 950-1100 mg.
I’m not REAL big on mango, but a splash may work… or go w/ my idea above and use mango as the froze fruit. Raspberry-mango might be good. I’m not necessarily looking for a classic or ethnic pairing… just something to work lol. I know lemon and coconut is common, but I prefer lime so that’s what I used this morning. And it actully wasn’t bad
Made this the way I always do… 1TB chai stirred into 1 cup boiling water then added 1 cup cold milk while continuing to stir. Although I didn’t pay attention to what spoon I grabbed. I grabbed a plastic spoon from Dairy Queen because of the length of the handle. Ended up w/ a bent spoon by the end of my cuppa. Lovely. :)
Preparation
Mom officially thinks I’m nuts. Was running late for church so I didn’t even have to ime to nuke water and drink hot matcha this morning so I drank my matcha OJ. Halfway thru chugging it I stop and burst out laughing. OJ is gold (kinda) and matcha is green- Packer colors. Funny thing is even though I live in WI I didn’t even want the Packers to be NFC champs and I don’t even get Fox so I can’t watch the commercials (the only part I care about). I love how the irony in my life is always unintentional. Oh well. Here’s to matcha, church, good commercials, and if the Packers get a win, that’s great.
Ok, I’m going to apologize for this in advance. This will make no sense. At first I was absolutely terrified about the steeping parameters (I did it for the full 15 min)… But it was not as horrible as I feared. It was actually REALLY GOOD! It’s fruity, but not. Strong, but not bitter. Smooth in fact. Inspite of the long steeping time, it’s not nearly as sweet as Twining’s Raspberry Echinacea… but not NEARLY as foul as Celestial Seasonings’ Echinacea. There’s just a touch of medicinal quality that’s more like a minty freshness. But yet not. Hm. I’m confused. I just just know I like it. The saying “the best things in life can’t be described in words” is definitely right. Yum.
Preparation
I bought a pound of this when the 15% code was active. Shipping is really expensive though. Almost $7.50 for this and a 4oz package and my friend that introduced me to it said shipping is about $20 for a container of the concentrate. Luckily there’s a place 45 min from my house (and in the same town my cousin who comes home every weekend goes to college) that sells it. I must price compare sometime.
Anyway… I have a massive headache so I made a 16oz mug (per my usual when I don’t add it to drip coffee) heavily spiced to drink w/ my 2 asprin. I used 1TB (yes, tablespoon) for my 16oz mug and then added 3TB of spiced rum creamer. You’d think I’d die from the spice, but all the creamer does amazing things to calm the spice. Anyone wanna take bets on if my headache will go away before the chai burns a hole in my stomach? lol.
Oh, and P.S. my friend gave the rest of her slow brew to her gastro-intestinal Dr. who’s an Indian man and he said this really is the real deal.
I hate red rooibos. Completely loath it. So I was terrified to try the green version, but I was suckered into it by RoT’s savory greenbush blends… and I love ’em. This is my 1st unflavored greenbush.
The liquor is not green at all. It’s bright orange… like BRIGHT orange. It’s pumpkin almost verging on blaze orange. The aroma is light and slighty fruity.
What an interesting tea… It’s smooth, woody. My grandfather was a wood worker by hobby before he retired so I smelled so much wood I could almost taste it as a small child- and I really think this is what wood would taste like if you licked it. There’s also a slight fruity note. And warmth. Warmth in the flavor, beyond the temperature. Almost like faint notes of cinnamon. Pretty good!
Preparation
Ahhhh… This makes me happy. I like a bit of clove in my chai, but I was elated to see it missing from this blend after the Gingerbread disaster from Adagio. It’s not a chai, but it was all clove. Seriously. Like drinking perfume. Well… like not drinking perfume… because I couldn’t finish the cup. Do you know what it takes for me to not finish a cup of tea? Ok, I’m done now.
Made this a latte this morning. 2tsp/8oz water/8oz Smart Balance milk/8min. Lol just noticed the 8 theme there.
Spectacular… I can actually drink this! lol. I don’t like gingerbread, but I can definitely taste the gingerbread flavors and enjoy them. Not bad.
