drank Oolong Sativa by Asha Tea House
138 tasting notes

I received this gracious sample from David at Asha Tea House. It was enough for two tastings. This was put on the site 3 days after I ordered the San Lin Xi sampler, and I was a little upset with myself for not waiting a few more days, but here it is.
After reading the description of the tea, and where it produced my expectations were set really high. One because its Asha, and I have never had an oolong that I was not really impressed with, and two because of the price $32.00 for 1.76oz of tea.
I could not get a decent smell from the dry leaf so I warmed my gaiwan and cup to start the tasting. The wet leaf smells great, sweet and brothy. The taste I really could not put my finger on. A little floral, and broth like at the same time…strange I know. Then I tasted it again and all I kept thinking was that its smooth and clean tasting. I did not get buttery just smooth. I know that it does not make any sense but thats what I got.

I waited two days and did the other half of the sample that David gave me, thinking that maybe my taste buds are a little off. I got the same, but a little more floral and light tasting.

My ending thoughts about this tea are little mixed so I will try and explain them. It is a great tea, but It did not stand out to me like his Alishan, or the San Lin Xi that he has available. If it was a choice between the three teas I would pick the other oolongs that he has to offer over this. I say this because of the price. For $32.00 I was expecting something different, an experience. A good example would be the Hawaii oolong that Samovar teas has. it is $25.00 for .88oz, but I know that it will not taste like any other oolong I have tasted in the past. Since I have had all of Asha oolongs I find that if I were to tell others to buy from Asha (which I do) it would be the San Lin Xi sampler that he has, which is a great experience to see how one oolong can change from the roasting.

While I was not blown out of the water by the tea, it is still the main place that I buy oolong from. Its always fresh and tightly rolled. The patience of his oolongs are also pretty impressive. Usually by the 7th steep the leaves are fully unrolled. If you are on the fence I would get the sample pack, and then go from there.

I like the sample tip…thanks!

Received this as a sample from Teasuce. I’m a little picky when it comes to flavored black teas. I like this, but I really don’t get the pancake from it,just maple syrup. I drank this with some pancakes and still it just did not do it for me. Its a nice treat, but not something I would buy.

So I have had this tea a few times now, and still have one more sample tasting thanks to David. I am still a newbie when it comes to pu’er, so this is one that is inviting unlike a few other pu’ers I have tasted. Very clean and smooth. I did not take it passed 3 steeps, like I knew I should but I was tea tasting….

I like it, but not enough for for me buy it. Still Verdant has some great pu’er and educates newbies like me on them for sure.

drank Guayusa by Runa

Drinking this now..LOVE it! Very smooth and clean tasting. I asked for this as my sample from New Mexico Tea company. I decided to go with just the plain guayusa, I figured I can always add spices to it to make it like the others. I had the first cup plain, the second cup I added 1 teaspoon of Verdant Tea’s Thai Fire blend for a little kick. NICE! I will diffidently be buying this, sucks I can’t buy it locally but this will be on my list.

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 15 sec

I have found Guayusa to be great as well.

Got this as a sample from Teasuce. Its a nice dessert tea, and lately I have been wanting something sweet. I can not really make out the rum, but the carmel flavor is nice.

drank Carrot Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Thanks to Bonnie on giving this to me in a swap. It seems like everyone, this tea does not smell good right off the bat. I can not put my finger on what it smells like, but its not carrot Cake.
It tastes like raw carrots and apple with agave nectar. Yup, thats what I get…

Bonnie

I’m sorry! Hate to say it but most people don’t like it but now and then someone loves it which I can’t understand!

Ninavampi

This is possibly the worst tea I have ever tasted… How someone could possibly love it is a mystery to me…

Soo…David gave me this sample awhile back and I have since had this tea 4 times now. I like it, it grows on you. When I had it hot the lemongrass and lavender take front above the spearmint and peppermint. I am now having this now cold, as I did a cold brew on it two nights ago. The spearmint comes forward more. A nice simple herbal blend. I think I like it better cold….which is rare since I not an ice tea person.

Preparation
Iced 4 min, 30 sec

drank Sorapot by Joey Roth
138 tasting notes

Just received this today. I took off work early just to pick it up.
So I bought this from Amazon for $26.74, which was a steal. I had been watching it closely , it was $94.00 for a long time and then it dropped to $47.10. I had a gift card for $27.00 so I bought it. The description said that it had a few scratches but that was it.
Now looking at it, there is a tiny scratch, which is barely noticeable.
After looking at the reviews I have been wanting the Sorapot for 2 years now…finally got one at an incredible price!
The pot does drip a little and it pours slow then fast…but I can get over that:)

LiberTEAS

WOW! That is a REALLY good price. It’s a shame about the scratch, but given that this teapot retails for around $200, I’d say that at $27 it’s definitely worth overlooking a scratch.

TeaBrat

wow… it looks interesting?! Although I am confused by it, I hope it makes great tea!

Tommy Toadman

Thats AWSOME! you got a great deal.

BTVSGal

Opps..I meant to say barely noticeable. I had to actually search for it. It would be something that I would probably do to it in a week of use…
