138 Tasting Notes
Bought a sample of this. It diffidently has a raisin sweetness to it. I did not believe the description when I first read it, but it stands true. I have been getting used to the honey, and musky undertones from other black teas. This was a surprise. I will probably order again with my next samovar shipment.
Just bought this tea from DavidsTea. I had a hard time deciding which straight black tea I wanted. I usually like dark musky black teas that can stand with a little milk and sugar. I even did a little taste test with my favorite black tea. Copper Knot from Teavana. I brewed both for 3 minutes, same amount of water and same temp. The Black needles had a sweet smell, and very light color like scotch. It had a smooth honey taste, no astringency from it .
I have been drinking it without milk or sugar, its that smooth. love it
Preparation
Well I bought this tea because it was on clearance and I love all of the ingredients. When I smelled it for the first time it smelled like a baked plum. When I brewed it I could smell the hibiscus and licorice more then the plum. With the first sip I would taste the plum right away then the licorice towards the back of my mouth.
Then came the hibiscus and the licorice again. The plum disappeared on me.
I love REAL licorice tea. I think it’s pretty simple yet complex. One of my go to teas. It is one of the only teas that I will always buy that is bagged. I will not quit it…lol. It is a staple for me. With a touch of cream it is a delight. I have even made it on the stovetop with milk, then put it in the fridge to cool.it makes a nice ice tea.
I have even surprised a few friends that swear up and down that they hate licorice. I pour them a glass of this over ice, and they lap it up. Which makes me laugh since they keep saying they hate licorice, but love this.
