199 Tasting Notes
I’m so glad I tried this at home last night because it meant I got to share it with my boyfriend and try it both plain and as a latte. One of my coworkers got me the vanilla latte powder from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for Christmas. As it’s one of those things that I really like but can’t justify the cost of, I am using it sparingly. I happened to have some milk on hand (another rare occurrence) and figured that a creamy vanilla rose latte sounded fan-freaking-tastic. And oh boy was it ever! Granted, I went very easy on the milk, adding only maybe a tablespoon to my 12 oz cup, out of concern that it might otherwise overpower the rose too much. It was perfect.
As a plain cup, the base could be tasted but seemed mostly to be keeping the rose from tasting too “grandma’s perfume.” So, that was good :)
I was also able to get two very nice steeps out of the same leaves, which makes me very happy because I could see myself drinking lots of this at work.

Whoa…you know that awesome feeling when you think you’re just trying an ordinary tea and instead are smacked in the mouth with unexpected yum? That’s what happened here. Having not read the description and having just seen the title, I thought I’d be getting a fairly standard assam (especially since teas from the Persimmon Tree Tea Company have been particularly hit or miss for me). But, not only was there really nice depth and maltiness to this, I was also able to get three fantastic steeps out of this by restraining myself and only steeping a couple of minutes each time. Really lovely and something I could totally see myself drinking daily (if it weren’t currently out of stock).
Thanks for the sample, Ost. This is another one you’ve sent me that I never would have picked out on my own but am so glad to have tried!!
Well, this didn’t suck.
I know that’s not the nicest way to start a review but….I really expected it to suck, so it’s a better start than it sounds like. It was nearly too sweet, though, since I almost never sweeten my tea. I hadn’t realized that licorice could be so sweet! The rest of it is something that could grow on me, especially if it left me feeling better. We’ll see.
Flavors: Licorice, Sweet
Hmmm….the dry leaf smells sort of similar to a Fuzzy Navel. But, the taste is almost all orange/tangerine to me. I’ll have to try this one again to see if I can taste more of the peach. As is, it was good but not at all what I expected or wanted when I opened the package. I’ll reserve my rating til I’ve tried it again.
Flavors: Orange
Mmmmmm….okay, I’m about to get really specific. Have you ever gotten one of those chocolate-covered strawberries that is so big you can’t possible eat it in one go? So, you crack the outer shell and bite through to the strawberry and just enjoy? And then, when you go back for the second (or third) bite, you get a whiff of that super delicious smell of chocolate and fresh strawberry juice?
This.
This smells exactly like that.
The taste, however, is a touch more towards the neapolitan milkshake arena of chocolate-strawberry goodness.
So fantastic. Oh man.
Flavors: Chocolate, Strawberry
This is soooooo delicious! Apricot and nuts for sure! I wish they had a year-round version of this at Lupicia….does anyone know if they do?? I didn’t get nearly enough of this at Christmas :( It tastes like the most mellow, nutty, apricot danishy-type of thing. I like it so so much.
