The Earl's Garden

The flowers are in full bloom in the Earl’s Garden.

Everyone should have a Earl Grey tea in their stash as it is probably one of the most commonly asked for tea’s, probably something to due with being a great blend. I am going on a streak of trying out DT’s Earl Grey blends as it is one of my favorite blends of tea and they seem to have some unique takes on it, this being one of them.

Dry you have your typical black tea leaves, in amongst them there are pieces of freeze dried strawberry giving it a bit of a contrast in color. It has a heavy bergamot aroma with a light berry undertone, this is certainly an Earl Grey tea no mistakes about that! Steeping reduce’s the bergamot aroma a little and enhances the berry aroma as well creating a perfect balance of the two.

The final brew certainly tastes like an Earl Grey, but with a hint of berries. I felt the amount of bergamot might have been a little high but I also did steep it at a slightly hotter then recommended temperature because I wasn’t paying attention. Even with my mistake it was still a great cup of tea, I am certainly going to keep this one on hand. Especially since it mixes with Cream of Earl Grey really well.

A good tea but I guess it’s not for me.

Ooh, wow. I was a little hesitant to try this tea because of the fruity elements. I mean, I DO enjoy that, but with Earl Grey…? I wasn’t sure I needed to mess with something I love so much. (Even though I love Earl Grey Cream teas!) In any case, as it was a gift, I let it sit around for a while before eventually giving it a go… And… Wow…!

The fruitiness comes across more as a flowery note – like the name suggests! It’s definitely a sweeter Earl Grey, but with a softness to it I wasn’t expecting; the fruits were much more subtle than I anticipated! Definitely a wonderful and light variation on an old classic that should really be tried before being looked over!

My favourite black tea so far!

This is a lovely fruity earl grey. I really liked this as something different but still classic.
I thought that the fruitiness really came out in this tea and gave it a little punch that I wasn’t expecting.
In my opinion, the aroma in the bag is the same as in the tea, and it tastes that way as well!

Good hot, but WONDERFUL as an iced tea. A little fruitier than I normally like, but still a great Grey.

Fruity with a mild tea flavour. Nice with some sweetener and milk, especially as a first-thing-in-the-morning tea.

Clearly, the Earl was a super spy. I say that because this tea is SECRET black tea disguised by the taste of a Herbal, Berry Tea. I agree with some of the other comments: it doesn’t taste like an Earl Grey at all.

I want to try it it iced and blended with lemonade though, I have a feeling that would be good.

I first tried this tea iced. This is odd for me, as I’m almost exclusively a hot tea drinker, but I was at an event and they were having it iced. …I couldn’t stop drinking it. I think I fell in love.

There’s a bag of it in the box I’m going through, and so now I’m trying it hot as well. It’s got a decent strength. It’s got a nice citrusy flavour, which somehow I like better than the traditional earl grey, maybe because it has a bit of a fruity note to it as well? I tried adding a little sugar to, as I had it sweetened originally, and YES. That just made it.

I definitely need to stock some of this. I also really want to try it cold steeped….

i have been drinking earl gray since i was a child with my grandmother: always nice with cream and sugar, but never without. every time i drank it clear i was disappointed. obviously there was a problem here i needed to diagnose. the verdict? i do not like bergamot.

the earl’s garden is low in bergamot, high in natural sweetness with the berries and awesome with or without cream and sugar. i now consider myself fully coverted!
