The Earl's Garden

I love the smell of strawberry here. Although it’s more strawberry candy smell then genuine strawberries. But it’s helping drown out the bergamot, which I’m not too fond of.

Yes! I’m enjoying this one. I may add a touch of agave and see what happens but I’m liking it as is too :) Finally a variation of Earl Grey I can drink and enjoy :)

I’ve been super impressed with DT’s black teas…they are so good and sexy and take classic recipes and make them memorable Cream of Earl Grey and English Rose are just two examples of this fantastic trend that I couldn’t be happier about!

This tea just smells so amazing..like Earl Grey kicked up to 11.
The Bergamot is super heavy and the fruit bits of strawberry and the blue cornflowers make it come alive and I just want to drown in it..

I’m already totally head over heels and I haven’t even drunk it yet.

Being as super familiar with DT’s black teas as I am I made sure to only put in a shallow teaspoon..but kept the 5 minute steep time so we’ll see!
Hopefully the bitterness will not take over..sometimes it takes a lot of fussing to get it just right but it’s worth it.

Once brewed the smell of berries take over completely so I hope this doesn’t overwhelm the Earl Grey profile too much but damn it still smells good.(I do love my fruit!)

First taste and it is refreshingly and surprisingly light with a fruity taste..doesn’t have the full Grey profile but it has the Bergamot kick.
I think it would make a lovely iced tea…no Salted Caramel but not EVERY tea can be perfect.

This is a lovely light black tea.I do not love it as much as Cream of Earl Grey but it’s yummy and is a Earl Grey..wish it was a little more heavy but
I think this tea will grow on me.

I love this tea. Of course discovering this site inspired me to hit up DT today. I first tried and loved this on when I purchased it for my Earl Grey loving mother for Christmas. We tried every variation of Earl Grey that DT has to offer. At that point this was the one I was most keen on. The Aroma is very pleasant, quite floral with a hint of sweetness.
Once you taste is, the berry is quite dominant in the flavour. However if you steep it the way I like it (3 min, boiling water) the EG taste still makes it’s way out from the shadows.

This is one of my favourite tea’s from Davids. Many people talk about how bitter this tea is and I don’t find it bitter at all. I don’t use as much tea as suggested and I don’t ever oversteep—maybe that’s why people find it bitter? It love Earl Grey, it’s a classic, and this is a floral twist to it. I was worried that it would be tart with the berries added to it but it’s such a beautiful blend. It’s always very comforting… this is my second Earl Grey today… must be that kind of day. I always have this one with milk.

This was my first tea brew, so my results may be a little skewed. Still, I thought that this tea was delicious. The unbrewed smell can be a little overpowering, with all of the berries and whatnot. However, the steeped smell is astounding. You have a hint of a classic Earl, but with some nice berry scent on inhale.

The taste of the tea was equally nice. Depending on the strength of your sip, you can get an Earl on the pallet and a berry finish, or vice versa.

I used the DAVIDsTEA Perfect Scoop, and it came out wonderfully. I am really glad that I got 100g of this!

I love strawberries and Earl Gray so suffice to say I was happy to find that David’s had a tea that combined both. In a complimentary way that made the flavors harmonize wonderfully as well. The aroma is filled with all the classical charm that one looks for in a good Earl and paints a picture of an old English afternoon tea.

I admit to visualizing the Old English Rose tea set placed on a crisp white tablecloth with this tea served in the delicate tea pot and on one of the plates a tower of buttery scones topped with strawberry compote. The clotted cream for the delicacies placed just within reach all at the same time. It’s that reminiscent of a picture with every sip.

I thank a grandma who stopped in to David’s this morning for the inspiration to have this tea tonight to wind down after a long day. She may have purchased the Cream of Earl Gray but it served to remind me of this one. I think I might’ve even suggested this one to her when she was trying to decide an Earl but I digress. This is one great blend!

I love Earl Grey tea. So when I sniffed this tea at the store, I had to bring some home to try! It’s a nice light earl grey with a berry kick to it. I just used my last and I’ll probably restock but it’s not a rush, there’s just so many out there to try. This is nice though, it makes a great London Fog. :)

It’s the first time I found DAVIDsTEA in Hong Kong! View 62 by Paco Roncero in Wanchai apparently stocks a pretty impressive collection. I have tried DAVIDsTEA and felt disappointed for several times. Being a tea adventurer I tried again, but my impression had not changed… :(

Actually I can’t say this tea is bad, it’s a sweet, fruit-flavoured black tea that many girls would like. It goes with cakes quite nicely, and its name is really lovely too! But I was dissatisfied because it’s NOT an Earl Grey, at least I couldn’t taste any bergamot in it! This was strange because the distinctive, intense flavour of bergamot tends to stand out even in the presence of other fruits. Besides, the fruity flavour in this tea was too artificial, it tasted more like strawberry and blackcurrant candies than real fruits. More like a tea for kids rather than sophisticated tea drinkers. I can’t help comparing it with other fruit-flavoured teas by Lupicia and concluding that the latter is clearly superior.

I normally don’t like very strong early gray style teas. I actually like this one. On first sniff of the leaves I smell an overpowering sweet strawberry smell. David’s Tea recommends 1.5 tsp per cup and 4-6 mins to steep. When I used the recommended amount of tea and steeped for 3.5 mins, I found the brew too bitter. I infused a second time and the tea was perfect for me, with a nice but not overpowering sweetness. So for me, I would need to either put less tea per cup or brew for 3 mins only for the perfect cuppa.
