Popular Tasting Notes
I was looking for a nice herbal tea that I can drink at night that wouldn’t keep me awake, but I’m just not a Chamomile fan. Although having other herbs mixed in with the chamomile does make it more enjoyable. I will drink this tea occasionally and continue my quest.
Preparation
This has probably been my favorite flavored tea I have tried since I switched from pop to tea. I only mention the switch to give you an idea of where my tastebud’s fall, I’m not generally inclined to the subtle :) Maybe I’ll get there on day. Anyway, this tea might have been better named “Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal”, as me and my wife both agree that’s what it smells like, however the taste is at a midpoint between Apple Pie, and the Oatmeal. I put about 2 teaspoons of honey/1teaspoon sugar in the bottom of a 12oz cup, and used 2tsp of tea in the infuser (as the instructions suggested 1tsp/6oz, unlike the 1per 8oz i’ve seen on most other teas I’ve bought elsewhere). The result, after 3:45 steeping time (3:00 suggested) was a very definite, full flavored Apple Pie/Oatmeal taste that is perfect for sitting around on a cloudy Minnesotan Sunday afternoon. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys boldly flavored teas.
Preparation
Received a sample from the Lupicia newsletter~
It has a nice aroma before and after steeping. It reminds me of freshly picked strawberries at a fruit stand on a nice, sunny day.
A nice tea – the strawberry flavor is just about right; you can still taste the black tea in the background while the strawberries are present throughout.
I think this might go well with milk and sugar. In the hot summer months, it might be perfect straight and chilled (need to try this in a few months)
Preparation
I’ve received a few samples of this tea. I simply don’t rave about it in the same way as everyone else. I liked it…i tried it after finishing off a very nice oolong by Ten Ren so I think perhaps I wasn’t as wowed as everyone else. I found the tea cheesy in someways and in other ways reminded me of creamed spinach. I wouldn’t reorder.
I wouldn’t have picked this one for myself, but I brewed up the sample bag one evening after a long day of traveling. Now, I wouldn’t have picked this because I’m not usually a fan of chamomile, unless it’s used cleverly within a blend.
In Savasana tea, the main star is definitely the chamomile. I like lemon balm and verbena – I even have the prior growing in my yard for steeping up in teas. Unfortunately, here I just get a cooling, medicinal-sweet herbal cough drop/Ricola sort of vibe backing up the chamomile. I can totally get how this would be soothing, but I only drank about half the cup. Once it cooled down it was too much for me.
I really liked this tea not only for the distinct rooibos flavour, but also for the hints of cocoa and chocolate running through it. Unexpectedly great tea and the flavours work well together. Must try!
Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Rooibos
Preparation
Maybe I’m just weird, but I actually like the slight bitterness of it. I have a bad habit of using quite a bit of sugar in my tea, but I’ve been using a lot less in this stuff. Definitely not my favorite, but its not bad at all. I could see it being very good iced, too.
Preparation
This is one of my favourite teas right now! (It’s right up there with Rishi Tropical Coconut, my other current favourite.) The Paromi scent reminds me of fresh almond croissants in a bakery. The flavor is smooth & buttery, but not overly sweet. It reminds me a bit of a dark oolong. It’s like dessert in a cup!
Flavors: Almond, Butter, Coconut
