Popular Tasting Notes
This tea seemed really good in the description from the website I bought it from, but unfortunately, mixing green and black teas together is not a really good idea. The temperature that you need to steep them at is very different, and so is the steeping time, resulting in a cup that is either too weak, or burnt. Also, the peachy undertones really don’t help at all here, as I find them to be very artificial. The smell is great though!
Flavors: Bitter, Fruity, Peach
This is a very tricky tea. It’s color suggests a very light roasting, yet early infusions tend to an almost scorched bitter taste if not prepared with a very light hand (short/dilute infusions). But handled well, it gives light, sweet liquor with a deep spiciness that does bring cinnamon to mind, deliciously and delicately. Tonight I overdid it, packing my small porcelain korean pot so tightly the lid is almost lifted off by the unfurled leaves, and at this concentration, I’m still doing hardly more than flash rinses 6 or 7 infusions into it. I think it has enough for 15 or 20 infusions so tightly packed.
Preparation
This really does smell like chocolate and dried strawberries! I wasn’t too impressed with the taste last time but I’m hopeful this time around since it smells SO good. The color of the steeped tea is a deep mahogany – very beautiful – and with cream and honey added the color changes to caramel. Unfortunately, the flavor of the tea isn’t quite as intoxicating as the aroma. It’s a little tart. Overall, it’s not enough to make me want to repurchase.

Preparation
This was the first tea I ever tried at DAVIDs TEA and I am glad it was. I can never get over the fact that this tea is so delicious. It’s my number 1 favourite tea and I wouldn’t trade it for any other. I recommend this tea to anyone and everyone !
Preparation
It’s taken me a while to review this tea, because I have such mixed feelings about it.
First of all, I hate the smell of this tea. I don’t really get the “paint” smell that others have noted, but I find it overly perfume-y, as if it was actually fragranced more than flavored.
The first couple of times I tried this tea, I had it as I drink all my teas – black, without any sweeteners or milk. I found it tasted much like it smelled: very artificial and almost kind of flowery. Didn’t really pick up anything that tasted carrot-cakey.
Then I decided to try it with a little bit of the half-and-half we have in the office. Suddenly, it’s an entirely different tea. Still has that awful smell, but the taste now resembles a very mild spice cake. Something about the cream brings out the “cakeiness” of the tea. I wouldn’t quite call it carrot cake, but there’s a sort of nutty, cake batter taste to it with the cream.
Overall, I’ll finish off what I have left of it, but I won’t be buying it again.
