So thanks to my ridiculous longing, ashleyelizabeth was kind enough to send me a skerrick of this delicious and discontinued blend to try.

I don’t know if trying it has made my longing better or worse…

I hummed and haahed over how to brew this up, knowing that there was only enough for a (decent) single serve. The weather has been getting colder lately but this is the kind of blend that seems to be best served cold… aaaaaaaaaand I’ve just gotten enthralled with cold brewing. Done. Cold brewed, it is.

This ended up sitting for around 24hrs in my fridge, which was an awesome amount of time for a fruit tisane. Yum. Yum. Yum. I wish I had so much more of this in my life. Fruity and sweet and just everything I dreamed it would be.

Wah.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more
ashleyelizabeth

It already made one comeback since it’s introduction, maybe they will bring it back again this summer! It was really popular…

IS THERE NOTHING THIS GLORIOUS TEA CANNOT DO THAT PLEASES ME IMMENSELY!?

Tried as a cold brew overnight, from around 10pm (bedtime) until around 8am (worktime)… so good :(((((((( just wonderful. Tasty hints of raspberry and coconut among a smooth and delicious black tea.

Everyone who doesn’t like this tea, please express post any remaining stocks to me. Any future swap friends, this will be on my “also this please” order list.

I’ve made a grave mistake this morning. Weekend work means early(ier) shifts than I’m used to, which means mornings are more of a struggle, which means I left my deliciously aeropress’d keep cup of coffee on my kitchen bench this morning.

Despair. Woe. Yes, I’m a filthy coffee drinker in the mornings. You might say I’m bidrinkual. Here’s how it works, I NEED coffee in the morning, I LOVE tea at all times.

I picked the OG from the teas I’m carrying around with me because I remembered it said stuff about being ENERGISING and I was like I NEED THIS because as much as I love morning coffee I will not lower myself to drink instant crap. Ahhh I’m so miserable hahaha. So OG it is today. My first steep was for 2mins and I’m just getting a cup of green tea. Damnit. Damnit. This is not what I want right now. ENERGISE ME

Sipdown! Right when I need this! No wait, it’s an immune boost PRE-cold sorta thing. I’m hoping it’s done something good because it’s like 4°C and it’s almost like I’m willing a cold virus into being with this much expectation. And with all this lying around on top of the blankets when I should be underneath them. And NO SOCKS!

Once I’m out of my current go-to cold teas (TasTea Sinu blend and DAVIDsTEA Cold 911) I’ll hit this up and get it back into the cupboard, for sure.

Backlogged: I used this in a cocktail on Ginuary.com this year and it worked a real treat. Who knew that tea was a solid base for old punch recipes, rather than water? Apparently it adds a nice zing—I have to agree!

I thought I was going crazy trying to find my tasting note—I was SO SURE I had already written one—but then I found it under Sencha Mango, which I used for ANOTHER cocktail back in Ginuary.

I do love how well gin and tea marry. :D

Ohhhhhh actually this is pretty delicious with around a half teaspoon of sugar per 12oz and a bit of milk! Milk and sugar strikes again! There’s enough of a difference of taste with the lemon myrtle for this to be interesting, and hopefully enough caffeine to assist in restoring me today. Bumping up the rating a bit because this is a nice black tea.

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

There is not enough caffeine in this buttery coconutty goodness to help me survive this day but at least it gave me a hug and a pat on the back as I bravely attempt to soldier on.

(I got around 2hrs of broken sleep, due to late bedtime and rough weather and cat and probably drinking black tea too close to bed and a multitude of other issues and I am absolutely WRECKED today but today’s my Monday! Three day week! Please kill me swiftly I am dying slowly!)

Ramming some more of this home as my final tea tonight because the temperature’s done a crazy drop in the last few days and so many people I know have cold viruses right now and how do I not? HOW DO I NOT? I haven’t had one at all this year yet! REALLY? THIS IS NOT THE IMMUNE SYSTEM I KNOW! BECAUSE WHEN IT COMES TO COLD VIRUSES MINE IS MORE LIKE A MUNE SYSTEM.

Ok be cool. Chill out. Drink more immune boost and fight the good fight, keep those tootsies warm. Get a good night’s sleep. (Seriously, I feel like a cold virus is staring at me from the darkness somewhere with the caption “SOON.”)

Translating my ratings, at a glance:

100 — CRITICAL OBSESSION LEVEL REACHED; CAN YOU MARRY TEA!?
95 — this must always be in my pantry. forever.
90 — excellent! you need to try this tea!
85 — very good! you should try this tea!
80-70 — I enjoyed this and will happily drink it again.
65-50 — Fine. Unremarkable.
45-35 — this wasn’t the worst drink ever but I was disappointed; it didn’t live up to my expectations at all.
30-0 — I didn’t enjoy this tea and that makes me sad.

MY TEASTORY:

Grandad got me started young, white (a LOT of white) Irish breakfast with two.

I never strayed far from that until the world of T2 Tea came to Brisbane some years ago, and now I don’t know what I’d do without a pantry full of tea options.

These days I prefer to drink my teas straight without sweetener (though I appreciate some black variations shine better with milk and/or a dash of honey/sugar). I also love a speedy iced tea (hot brewed then poured over ice), and my latest obsession is cold brewing (which doesn’t make a lot of sense, as Australia is headed into winter and I live in the coldest corner of the country, but oh well).

I’d love to make a bunch of tea friends on here, especially those who can talk Aussie teas with me. I’ve recently come back from a jaunt to North America and it was a real hoot to hit up DAVIDsTEA after reading so many reviews! I wish I’d had the chance to get to more stores… but I’m happy with what I got back past customs. See those teas and my local jams in my reviews.

I LOVE:
+ black teas
+ white teas
+ oolongs
+ flavoured versions of all three of the above
+ herbal infusions and fruit tisanes

NOT A FAN:
+ most green teas
+ LICORICE ROOT (my sworn enemy) and aniseed flavours

Hobart, Australia
