1024 Tasting Notes
Another green flavoured tea… please. Please stop. No, it’s fine. I guess. But two in one Mr. Earl box in one month, when there are only ever three teas a month… some more variety, please!
This one’s like a combination of a green tea and a bedtime tea, to be honest—face full of calendula and chamomile. It’s fine. it’s a green flavoured tea.
First cab off the rank for the Mr. Earl May subscription trio! This was the one I was drawn to the most out of the three because it smells divine, like strawberries (funny because I’m not actually crazy for strawbs in the great berry ranking).
This is a wonderful alternative to T2’s Strawberries & Cream, I think, or even Green Rose. Light green tea base with lovely fresh and fruity flavours that don’t overpower the green.
Ranked as I did because I’m just not that crazy about greens. I really wish I was. I’m definitely going to try this one cold brewed as well, I think it’ll be lovely! For a green.
Hahaha.
Flavors: Berries
Preparation
WELP, I was looking forward to trying this after cold brewing overnight in my lovely new More Tea bottle but then the bottle didn’t survive my bike trip into work.
Internal glass shattered. Devastated.
And I only had a one cup sample of this tea, too! Sigh. Not a great start to the day. Can only go up from here, right?
For a positive spin, that’s technically another sipdown. I so wanted to get under 70 before my Butiki order arrives, but I’ve just received my Mr. Earl May teas so the challenge intensifies AGAIN!
Oh no! Earlier today I had read your review for that bottle too! Strange that it was the internal glass that broke. I wonder if that happens often.
Decided to have some of this as my bedtime tea tonight (despite trying to avoid black teas for bedtime caffeine reasons) and sorted it out with a bit of sugar and cream.
Cream in tea is ridiculous and wonderful.
This felt like a big pile of cream and roses and I felt preposterous and delighted.
So this is definitely a BEAUTIFUL portable tea carrier, yes. But it only carries a small amount of tea! I guess it’s not much more than my timolino. But carrying around such a bulky thing when I can clearly (zing) see how much liquid is in there and it’s not a lot is a bit of a bummer. BUT seeing the tea in there is really pretty! But also straining leaves out if you need to is kinda annoying. Buuuuuuuuut it’s awesome for cold press.
I’m so torn. I think it’s everything I want? Or it would be if it held a bit more liquid. I’m just getting into this when I run out of tea.
EDIT: and with my second steeping ever, a jolt to the bottle has smashed the internal glass. Ouch. Changing my rating. Bit heartbroken!
My adage seems to be “if you don’t like it hot, cold brew it”. It’s saved many a blend for me and this one is no different. I swapped away the last of my supply of this to a friend last week but saved one last hurrah for my newfound cold brewing joy, and drinking it tonight it is fresh and tasty. True, the almond scent is still putting me off on approach, but heck—we’ve come a long way, baby.
Ah, you get a black flavoured blend and you’ll probably be onto a winner with me. Yup.
I left this in the fridge since 3pm yesterday, so we’re talking accidentally around 28hrs of steeping time, but due to the wonderment of cold brewing it isn’t bitter at all. It’s delicious. Not a great deal of the flavour coming through but just enough to be subtle, refreshing and delicious. Just what I needed after a power-ride up the hill to home!
Oh… hm. This isn’t what I was hoping it would be—the description made it sound a lot more flavourful, all I’m getting is lemongrass, cinnamon and cardamom. Which isn’t turning me on. Hm. Let me try a shorter steeping time next time, this one went for around 8mins.
@Memily,
Thanks again for the feedback. I did notice there was a double up with the greens, that was unfortunate. The BodyGlow blend had the purpose of assisting in skin clarity and was why there was a high percentage of Chamomile and Calendula. If you would like a free sample of another one our tea blends to try, please visit our website www.moderntea.com.au and send your preference along with a postal address to [email protected] and I’ll send it straight out for you to try.
