199 Tasting Notes
Yesterday was Chinese green tea day :P
I had this last night and it’s a new tea for me. The instructions say to use 1 tbsp per 8oz of water, so I ended up using about 3 tbsp for 32 oz, just in case it was going to be strong. The taste is very vegetal on the first steep (30sec) – almost too vegetal for me. The second steep (1min) was more mellow and slightly sweet. I enjoyed the second steep a whole lot more. I probably could have gone with more steeps, but it was already really late when I was drinking this last night.
Flavors: Vegetal
Preparation
I woke up with this tea today. It tastes great, but it didn’t really seem any different than a jasmine phoenix pearl (or similar tea). It has a nice light jasmine flavor, which is good for me, since I don’t like overpowering jasmine flavors/scents. Overall, it’s a good tea :)
Flavors: Jasmine
Preparation
A pretty good green tea, but I didn’t feel like it was anything special or different from a lot of other greens. It kinda tastes like a clouds and mist tea, but a little nuttier. I probably wouldn’t buy this, but it was fun to try!
Flavors: Nutty, Sweet, Vegetal
Preparation
Reading the description makes me thing I had a different tea, but this is the right name/company! The tea is very clean and mineral tasting with a slight sweetness and “rocky” taste. Overall, very good, but not outstanding compared to some other similar teas. I almost feel like I got a Shui Xian by mistake or something because that’s the best way to describe the flavor of this tea.
Flavors: Mineral, Sweet, Wet Rocks
Preparation
If my dreams were food, they would be of lemons, limes, and cheesecake. This being one of those three flavors, I was super excited to have some Lime Chiffon after hearing the rave reviews about this and its Lemon Chiffon counterpart.
The smell of the dry rooibos is very lime-y. I brewed this for 4 minutes or so and it still smells amazing at this point. The taste of the tea is not overwhelmingly lime (I really wanted it to be tart), but it has the creamy chiffon flavor and a nice subtle lime, like in a well-made key lime pie (again without the super tart flavor). Overall, a very nice tea and I’ll be glad to have it again :D
Flavors: Creamy, Lime, Sweet
