199 Tasting Notes
My sample is listed as 2011, but I’ll put the note here.. Still getting accustomed to sheng.. I had this after the 2008 Often tuo sample, so I was smart enough to change my steeping parameters for this one! Just a little bit of astringency in this with a dry mouthfeel, but a nice subtle sweetness building to a nice creamy texture at steep 7 or so.. Definitely a nice sheng, in my opinion :D

This is my… counts.. second sheng? Third, maybe? I found it to be really astringent.. But talking to Phi and Veck, they let me know that my temp was too low, so I’d really like to try this one again.. I’m still a super pu noob, so I have lots to learn!

Holy lychee, Batman!
Wow, so this tea is super strong and delicious. The instructions say to use 1tbsp per 6oz, which seemed ridiculous, but I did it anyway just so I could have the “recommended” brew. I steeped for 50 seconds/40/50 and have the leaves saved to brew again tonight.
I’m not even sure that I could distinguish that this is an oolong because the flavors of the lychee and the natural tea flavor blend together so perfectly. It’s a great dessert oolong :)

So, this is my first shou.. It’s super dark when brewed and has a smoky/mushroom flavor on the first few steeps, which gets sweeter as the session progresses. I got to try out my new gaiwan and take shou shots out of my tiny cups :P
Steeped very short for five steeps then extended slowly – I didn’t record the times, so I’m not sure. Overall, very nice shou and I’ll be able to get another session out of my sample :D

As Daggerfall used to proudly state on the front of the box: “Prepare to experience your new obsession!”
Happy Pu’ing Kiebs, glad to hear you enjoyed it! :D
@BezoomnyChaiVeck: yeah.. that’s a good catch phrase :)
Congratz on the first pu’ :D Pu is awesome :D
Okay, so I had this tea again and had to increase the rating.. I used 3 tsp for 16 oz, then added 1 tsp of a strawberry/apple tisane. It really brought out the natural flavor of the tea and the lychee was noticeable even when brewing at 175. I think the blend just needs a tad more strawberry, so I’m glad that I have some laying around!

Thanks to Liquid Proust!
This is a pretty good tea. I’m glad that it didn’t taste much like chocolate like a lot of other golden teas. I got a lot of sweet potatoe notes and a nice creamy texture!
