237 Tasting Notes
It’s lovely and golden outside with the sun slivering down into the sharp chilliness of the morning and I want something sweet and sexy.
This seemed the fine choice with golden mulberries and coconut…less a tea and more a decadent dessert. It smells almost buttery.
Once brewed it smells more like tea.It smells sweetly with the edge of coconut and the slight earthy tone of the white silver needles.
As for taste it is smooth and velvety with a sweet creaminess. The aftertaste brings out the coconut and it melts like butter on my tongue.
It’s nice and light.it doesn’t wow me which surprises me with it’s sexy texture but it does leave a sourness that seems out of place .It’s nice and all but I’m not sure I’m going to finish this 50grams the idea just tires me out.Makes me sad!
Preparation
The last little while has been tough on my United States neighbor..including the iconic city of New York or the “Big Apple” as we like to call it.
this is my own little way of showing support to New Yorkers and other east Coasters.
I am raising a steaming cup of tea named in honor of New York in a toast to those struggling after the hurricane Sandy devastation.
I hope all of you come out of this safe and sound.
In the pouch this tea smells fresh like green apple candy also a little nutty and a tad earthy.
Once brewed it gets more rich….really warm and inviting the apple making my mouth seriously water.
I put more in and steeped longer to get more flavor from the white tea not realizing it had green tea in it as well so I am hoping it won’t become bitter.
Oh but it does smell amazing. It’s a perfect contrast to what’s going on outside.
It tastes like warm days wrapped in perfectly comfortable sweaters as rain and snow fall outside.
It has a little tartness that is just lovely and balanced with the warming effect of the tea.
It’s also refreshing and light (iced is on my mind soon!)
I did steep too long so it was a tad bitter but unlike lesser teas it did not ruin it the loveliness still comes through.
I don’t believe this will be a staple but I sure as hell will enjoy it while I have it!
Preparation
So this has just lovely ingredients..a smorgasbord of them!
I’m not crazy about the smell it reminds me of Chai Amazonia(Am I losing it??)not as strong but a subdued familiarity.
It’s actually a stormy night..dark early…raining and cold that snaps your bones.
Perfect for trying this tea.
After brewed smells completely different.
Cinnamon OH sweet Cinnamon you sly sexy devil!
It smells sweet and velvety with vanilla bleeding through.
I CANNOT WAIT TO DRINK YOU!
As for taste,
It is smooth, velvety sweet with cinnamon and a chocolate base.
It is a very light tea.
I prefer my cinnamon kicking me in the face (HARVEST APPLE SPICE ohmagerd! from Tea Forte)
It’s weird but I’m not sure how I feel about it It’s definitely lovely there’s no denying that but I think it is in need of a longer steep.
I believe there is more richness that I am missing out on!
Preparation
So I actually had tried this before but it was a gift for a friend since she’s the biggest red velvet cake lover in the world.
I went on a small tea shop to DT’s and decided to pick up 15 grams of my very own.
It smells like red velvet cake if it wasn’t over-sweetened and too rich as it usually is.I smell chocolate semi-sweet and white..mixed perfectly.
Once steeped smells richer and deeper notes of chocolate come though and I want my whole life to smell like this.
It’s a denser tea kind of like glitter and gold but sadly without the shimmer.( No points off though!)
This is a really comfy tea..it’s more pastry like and then descends into this gentle sweetness that stays on the tongue.Basically like a blanket placed around oneself it feels like THAT kind of a tea.
It’s really really nice and soothing..I see greatness in an icing as well. Not sure if this will be a staple of my collection but it’s wonderful right now.
as always only used 1tsp and steeped the lowest time recommended.
I’m baaaaacck
Preparation
Today I woke up and couldn’t even manage the will to stretch one toe out from under the blankets into the freezing world. But I was awake and for the first time since that disappointing week I NEEDED a DAVIDsTEA to bring me into the real world.
I pondered over all my black teas since I need caffeine but the chilliness made me want only one tea, Alpine Punch.
I love this tea and it was made for mornings or anytime that is like this cold and miserable outside and just trying to warm up after coming in from the cold (even metaphorically speaking)or trying to warm up before a day of obligations ..It is a Rooibos but it doesn’t taste like it and it smells and tastes so inviting and warm..it makes me think of people lost in the alps looking for sanctuary and finally finding it drinking warm beverages made by generous strangers who place you under thick blankets in front of a blazing fire. This tea is most like a blanket and the most comfortable and favorite sweater you can own …
mmmmm
Preparation
So I have not been on for a while because I’ve had a terrible time..dealing with depression mostly since I found out my contract job in mental health work is getting completely restructured and I don’t have a place in it for the time being.
But number one thing that sucked…I didn’t get the job at DAVIDsTEA that I wanted so badly..and you supported me 100 percent on here and I felt shame and I don’t handle rejection well.
Well I’m back and though I am struggling looking for more work I’m not giving up on anything.
Thank you Pumpkin Chai…you filter my thoughts.
Sorry to hear you’re going through a difficult time. Sending you wishes that something amazing will come your way very soon.
OKAY SO BEST NEWS EVER..
I applied to a DAVIDsTEA that’s opening near my house they called me back the NEXT day because apparently my cover letter was “awesome” having group interview today with other applicants.
I’m hopeful for the job..would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to have it(For the tea benefits and to have something more stable then contracted Peer Support Work!)However I am not jumping up and down because I did that once for a job at LUSH which I did not get it and it totally broke my confidence..I was so nervous last night but I feel much better still nervous but not panicking.I have to take each step as it comes..gracefully!( it took me 10 years to do that by the way)If I don’t get it
then I can try again later..or apply for less a TEA-LIKE job.But I’ll shed a few tea tears I can promise you that if I don’t get it..
ANY TIPS are much appreciated and wish me luck!
PUMPKIN CHAI you are fall in a cup..with a touch of Halloween and sweetness..my first tea I ever drank from DT.(I still don’t consider it a real Chai but this is sooooooooooooooooooooooo good it can lie to me about anything!)
SOOOOO excited…nervous..I’m going to kick ass :)
Woot good luck! I’ve had a few jobs where I did good because I was a customer and knew their products already / could recommend other products if the one the customer wanted wasn’t there / having a big knowledge base and passion for the products – gave me a huge edge over the others who were just tossing resumes at random retail. Totally stress that!
