Teaware lust?
I think this is the prettiest gaiwan I’ve even seen. 200mL seems a little large though.

why are the best looking gaiwans always 200ML?

this is the most beautiful gaiwan i’ve ever seen.
boychik, if you scroll down and look at some of the big pictures, you can tell that the holes are filled with some kind of transparent glaze. And they show it with liquid in it also. Very cool! :)
apt – That’s gorgeous! Maybe the nice ones are so large to give the beautiful artwork more room ;)
boychik – Yezi has similar ones on their website, and they say it’s “crystals”.

The one cookies posted is gorgeous!
I find it interesting that the listing says 200ml, but the pics have it listed as 160ml. I wonder if it’s 200ml filled to the very brim, but more like 160ml to the normal fill line for tea making. Just a thought!
Cameron, no prob. I was just wondering. It is gorgeous. While I really like the look I wouldn’t drink out of it.
So I did a bit of research and it seems that type of china is called rice pattern or rice grain porcelain. According to this article it is indeed glaze that fills the holes.

oh man, I’ve been looking for that type of gaiwan and only found out last weekend what they are called! Apparently this style isn’t as common of a find these days.
Beautiful… Apparently “famille rose” is a special painting style which involves “a white opaque color called as Bo Li Bai (glassy white) blended with complex metal oxides fired at 1350ºC and turned in to different colors”. Very interesting! The seller has several other gaiwans with different patterns in the same style.
Out of my price range unfortunately, but these trays are just stunning.

I looked at those just the other day, cookies! They were out of my range, too, but gorgeous. I ended up still spending more than I wanted. It was impossible to find a larger tray with a dark finish in the $50 or less range that I was originally hoping for, so I had to increase my budget.
This is small, and very simple but it is one of the cheaper dark wood options. It comes in Rosewood or Ebony.

And if anyone is looking for a larger tea table with a dark finish, here’s the one I ended up buying. Hopefully it will be here soon!

I have this one:

I heart it.
I love the style of your tea tray. If it had a dark finish, I would have snatched it right up. So pretty!
I might of purchased these three cups recently:)

This is really pretty for a small Gaiwan.http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Handmade-ceramic-tureen-Gaiwan-for-kung-fu-teaset-85ml-Classic-Ceramics-Free-Shpping/1379852346.html
I see a lot I like on there, just a question. So many of them say $X/piece, but then in the description says it’s a 6 piece set. I’m assuming the set is considered a piece?
Marzipan, it really depends on the dealer, usually for single pieces like a Gaiwan or a cup a piece is per item ( ie. One Gaiwan). For tea sets, sometimes some dealers will divide the price of the item by the number of pieces in the set. This allows it to appear higher up when a buyer is searching by price. If their is confusion, I usually add it to my cart to find the final price. Most of the time though, the price is the quoted price.
I was looking at this thread and decided to buy another Gaiwan and ended up buying two, these.

One is more of a hybrid teapot/gaiwan but looks nice and the price was right.
Not teaware, but something cute for the teaware obsessed.

I know, and it’s gorgeous. So forgive me when I say that I think you may eventually cave and buy this one :p
Lol, the only reason it’s not done yet is because the seller doesn’t have good ratings. Sigh.
