I’ve really been in the mood for vegetal (non smoky or metallic) greens lately. Colour me suprised!
So when I ordered this at “coffee” with a friend the other day, I found this oddly satisfying. Perhaps it was a better quality batch than the last one I had, as I don’t recall it tasting so fresh or intense.
Either way, this may just turn into my go to caffeinated beverage there, atleast until they bring in some Teavana products.
What a relief, considering I’ve been avoiding their standard black awake tea! Now I haven’t indulged for quite some time now, but I remember disliking it, which is a serious annoyance for me given that black tea with milk is what I crave most… even after all these years of being on Steepster! I mean, I assumed I would outgrow that preference, and yeah I sometimes drift away… and then always end up right back at it again. I suppose that’s partly why I’m always surprised at how much I enjoy a solid green. Well, that, and growing up, all I ever knew of green tea was Jasmine and Sencha, which I can’t stand… so when I discovered the Chinese side… I did a little happy dance.
Long story short? My tastes are evolving, again! Go figure.
As has been said this tea has a better aftertaste than actual taste. The lemon and mint are too overpowering and I can’t taste the cucumber at all. Even worse is the fact that I can definetly taste the paper in this tea, which I usually don’t find too prominent in other bagge teas. It’s not too bad, ill take a cup if its offere but I won’t be buying it anytime soon.
Preparation
I love Tazo Iced Chai Latte’s from Starbucks, they’re my absolute favorite. As much as I enjoy the hot chai latte, the iced goes down smoothly and tastes a bit sweeter to me. This is my favorite drink during the summer, which living in Florida lasts for quite a long time!
Honestly, I have grown up with these tea my whole life so I feel I have a personal connection with it. Green tea is my favorite and I especially love Tazo’s green tea because it really relaxes me and gets me ready for the day. Every morning I always drink at least 1 cup of green tea before I take my shower and this green tea keeps me relaxed and prevents me from throwing a fit at the children who I work with everyday preventing me from throwing chairs or bricks or other dangerous objects. This tea is seriously the way to go to start your morning on the right foot.

I wanted a simple cup of tea and I reached for this tea by Tazo Tea. I take the tea bag and put in my cup adding cold tap water to it and put it in microwave for two minutes. I let steep for a minute more. Tea is brown in color and smell fresh and clean. When sipping this tea it is very mild with a lingering taste of green tea upon swallowing. In all it is light and lingers with its freshness in that you know it is green tea and nothing added.
Preparation
Purchased this a month ago and I just got around to trying it. I followed the steeping suggestion on the package and steeped for 5 minutes. While 5 minutes is needed to develop the black tea flavor I think it has done a disservice to the green tea. I smell the earthiness of the oolong and unfortunately jasmine (I don’t care for Jasmine tea)but the green tea is too tannic and bitter at a 5 minute steep.
I am intrigued by the blend and will likely try this again with a 3 minute steep. But at 5 minutes I find it unpalatable without the addition of something to balance the bitter notes of the green tea.
I tried this again with a 3 minute steep and it was much better. Still not GREAT in my opinion. I even tried it hot and let it cool because I noticed lots of notes stating it got better as it cooled off. I don’t feel this changed it all that much in terms of making it more palatable. I have certainly tried worse teas but I think this is just a strange blend. Each type of tea leaf requires different temperatures and steep times to optimize flavor and I don’t think these work together that well.
