I received this tea from a swap at the tea review blog. I drank this as my morning cup on the way to work. The lemon flavor is very strong. It was almost like drinking hot lemonade iced tea. The black tea base is not that memorable – but it is not bad either. Looking at the tea pyramid it seemed pretty clear that this was a higher grade of tea then in the typical Lipton teabag. It did not have that same mouth-drying astringency that some of their other teabag offerings have. I will make this one iced next time and see how it turns out.
Preparation
Bleh!!
This was terrible. Even with honey added, it was more like juice than tea. Never again…
That is all.
Oh it certainly was!!! and I’m not sure how it happened that when I lifted the bag out to cease the steeping, it splashed some red onto the side of the pot! red tea dust in a camomile bag!!!!
ugh! blegh!! I shudder at the thought of ever having it again. In fact, I think Lipton Camomile is the reason I “thought” I hated it for years! before I turned tea-manic that is :)
I’m done with Lipton, except for the accasional cup at Grandma’s house-it’s all she stocks. In that case I do add sugar. It is so bitter {sour face}.
Yeah ….honestly, I haven’t had that poison in years. I do occasionally have a cup of Red Rose, when remembering my Grandpap.
as a matter of fact, Paps used to go up to Toronto to visit his Cousin, and he brought back Canadian Red Rose teabags. He always said they were better than the ones sold in US (agree). That’s how I was introduced to RR tea.
I’m going to blaspheme here – I actually liked this bagged chai. I find chai tea to be a great equalizer – Yes, it is better as loose leaf but of all teas, it’s not so bad bagged. This is likely because the spices dominate the tea and mask the bitterness from low quality tea, but I don’t care. A coworker gave me two bags of this as she knew I love tea and I liked this. Stuck at reception with no time to prepare loose leaf this is a good stand-in and is keeping me warm. Partway through I added a few drops of milk and a miniscule amount of raw sugar as it was getting a titch bitter (and chai handles both milk and sugar well, I find) and it made it better.
Also, it’s making me think that my recent tea apathy might just be a seasonal change in tastes and I need to figure out which ones I want – Chai, mint and chocolate seem to be in vogue for me!
I noticed other reviews say it can get bitter, so it might be that I fluked the perfect steep time (and the water wasn’t boiling, as I’m at work) but it was definitely a decent (and easy clean-up!) bagged tea. I don’t know that I would pick any up, but I certainly wouldn’t refuse it if offered or given to me. Plus, I really do appreciate the convenience of the teabag, on occasion.
I adore this tea. I don’t even like the taste that much, but I drink it when I’m doing some of my favourite activites, such as writing, and it reminds me of them, so it makes me extremely happy. I’m abit of a messy person, and the cups get left in on my desk for maybe two or three days (with the teabag in) and it smells wonderful!
Preparation
I found this super-old-looking teabag at the hostel associated with Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage and thought I’d try it just so I could rate it.
It just tasted like really old paper. I knew that, if I drank the whole cup, I’d either vomit or get heartburn. There really wasn’t even a reddish color to the bag contents. It looked like some kind of yellowish leaf, though, so I don’t know what exactly it consisted of. It just was like paper. Yes, I have eaten my fair share of paper — I also enjoy eating toothpicks. However, I couldn’t stomach this.
It really looked old, though. Like, from the 70’s old. I blame my youth for such a bad experience (but at least I’m not looking at it anymore and wondering).
Preparation
I actually kind of like this one. o_o
Call me crazy!
I bought it before I started my loose tea thing, I was on a diet sign of the cross and wanted something I didn’t need to add sweetener to. I dunno, I pull it out when friends are over and I give them a choice of a bunch of teas and the crazies choose this one haha. I won’t buy it again, but I’m not gonna throw it out! That’s that.
I love a strong black tea, but this one had a bitter, almost coffee-like flavor to it. Super disappointing, as it sounded so delicious! I’ll probably fuss around with milk/sugar/steep times to try to make it taste better. At 20 mg per bag, it’s also too light on the caffeine content for me.
I haven’t had Lipton tea in years, but I discovered this at a local grocery store and it was on sale. I didn’t realize Lipton produced a loose leaf version of their tea, at $4 for half a pound of tea I figured I would give it a shot. I hardly ever add sweeteners to my tea, but one sip of this and I almost choked from the bitterness. I had forgotten how astringent Lipton was. Once sweetened with some honey it’s actually a semi-enjoyable breakfast tea. I don’t regret buying it, but it’s certainly not something I’ll be drinking on a daily basis.
