Just a cup of sweet hot tea to get myself balanced back after helping to throw a party for my fiancee’s best friend. It was his 21st and the only time he wanted to try drinking so we had fun. I know I won’t be drinking much for a while. Nothing much except for my lovely teas.
I have decided that my family doesn’t put quite enough sugar in our iced tea. Either that or I need to take my sweet tooth down a few notches. I think we also need to find another tea to make iced tea out of because we keep drinking up mom’s supply in a few short days.
I have been having issues with illnesses this summer. I have been drinking this tea hot and sweet, just like I used to when I first started trying to drink tea when I was really little. Hopefully, I can get my system working again and break out my more subtle teas.
I highly recommend Celestial Seasoning’s Ecchinacea Complete Care (with honey and short steep times). It’s been what I’m considering “the year of sick” for me, and since I’ve been having a cup or two of this in the evening — even with my weakened immune system — I’ve remained ok. I’m rooting for ya!
Dad made a big pitcher of the 4x strength and iced it. Good old fashioned iced tea. Always a pleasure.
That isn’t really why I’m writing the note. I’m writing to talk about what I had to go with this good iced tea. I had an egg nest. It is basically whipped egg whites with cheese folded in and baked. Halfway through the baking process you put the egg yolk in the middle of your “nest” form. It is really good. The yolk tastes like silk and the egg whites taste like air with that hint of cheese. It is just a plus that it also tastes really good with iced tea.

So after my previous bad experience with this bugger, I had to figure out how to make it palatable when it was given to me when I asked for black tea. Solution: steep it for 30 seconds. The best it can do is be bland and inoffensive liquid that resembles tea…which is all I’m looking for while I’m traveling. Three more nights and I can get my Yunnan Golden Buds from Verdant!
First breakfast in Costa Rica! I got pretty excited when I saw tea, no matter what the kind. This would probably have been a passable black tea if I had read the instructions and had steeped it for 1-2 minutes, instead of 5 like I normally do for black teas. It was so unbelievably bitter that I couldn’t finish it, but ah well. Gallo pinto more than made up for it! Oh, and one of my side goals for this trip is to manage to drink tea every day. So far it’s gone well!
I got some of this in a trade with The DJ Booth because I wanted to know if it was worth buying. Short answer: No.
Long answer: My wife might end me if I try to keep this in the house. It was weak, but what I could taste was bitter and burnt. Blegh.
Preparation
Ew. Ew. Upon first sip, it tasted like a badly burnt vanilla latte. Which then left an aftertaste of badly burnt caramel popcorn. Tried a few more sips to confirm my gross hypothesis. Don’t know how I made it through half a cup before giving up. Yuck.
Preparation
This smells like orange cough medicine…bleh. I’m TRYING to keep an open mind, tho…
It’s a bag. It ‘brews’ to a yellow/orange/murky color.
I can taste the Passion Fruit and Orange first and foremost. The Jasmine is more in the aftertaste.
It’s not as awful as I thought it would be but it’s not real great either. I can finish the cup but all I can think of is herbs, citrus, fake passionfruit, and medicine. There isn’t much green tea here.
Meh.
When I eat at Sheri’s restaurant (which is a chain here in the Pacific Northwest, similar to Coco’s or maybe a good comparison would be an upscale Denny’s), this is the tea I choose. I think I choose it because it’s not the plain Lipton’s which I cannot stomach, and it’s better than water.
Simple- this tea is pretty yum. It’s a very bold flavor from a bunch of stuff… so it makes you feel like you’re the only 150lb guy at a sumo wrestling party. If you’re in the mood for a fruit party in your mouth.. you’ll like this. One thing I noticed is it’s very forgiving of the brew.
