drank Strawberry Watermelon by Lipton

Thanks to AliceG for the swap! This tea bag claims it makes a quart of tea, but there wasn’t much leaf in there, so I just used it for my 18 oz mug. The flavor is nice and strong. I left it in the fridge so that I could drink it cold. It might have leaned a bit more to the candy-like watermelon, but I enjoyed it. This is definitely a tea I would pick up at the store to make pitchers of for my fridge. The flavors are nothing new, but they’re enjoyable.

I’m visiting Europe right now and spotted this everywhere in Paris so naturally had to try it out. I never liked the weird, corn syrup sweetened canned stuff with the Lipton label sold in the US but I had a hunch that the French version would be different. And boy not only was I right but this tea far exceeded all of my expectations.

Maybe it’s because I was parched on a hot summer day and needed something to wash down the huge street crepe I just had, but this little can really hit the spot. In fact, it may just be the most amazing peach flavored drink I’ve ever had. It tastes like biting into a ripe, juicy summer peach. The flavor is natural and sweetness is just right. The peachiness stands out more than the black tea base which seems to be a subtle accent. Then again, with this being Lipton maybe that’s a good thing.

Super refreshing and you can bet I’ll be picking up more while I’m in France.

Got a box of this along with several packs of Rich Matcha KitKats from JapanHaul. Those things are amazing and I love them. I wasn’t expecting much, because Lipton tea is Lipton tea no matter where it comes from, but for three dollars and change I wasn’t really going to be too broken up if it wasn’t good.

It smelled of cherries, which makes sense considering it’s supposed to be sakura tea. It tasted of cherry too, with a slight floral undertone to it. Couldn’t really taste anything in the way of the black tea base but again, Lipton. All in all it was nice, but wasn’t different enough from a plain old cherry tea to make it worth waiting three weeks for again.

Those KitKats are another story though. Definitely worth it.

Not a good tea. 100% toilet cleaner. I’m very disappointed as I love their bottled iced lemon tea… even though it doesn’t really taste of tea I enjoy the sugary refreshing flavour. But nothing about these black lemon tea bags was pleasant.

The flavour is like they’ve taken a real lemon and stripped away the bitterness, sourness, tartness and natural sweetness, then added a dash of artificial sweetness. They’ve stripped away the character of the flavour. Now it’s just nasty.

Ah well. At least I can say I’ve tried it and reviewed it. https://www.immortalwordsmith.co.uk/lipton-lemon-black-tea-review/

I have same experience. Iced tea in bottle is good and refreshing. But this is far from it.

Not my infusion. The spices are unbalanced and too strong, they remove any rooibos taste.

drank Strawberry Tea by Lipton

Reviewed this tea last week when the sun was shining, but I’ve only just got round to posting my review and tasting notes.

I’m a freelance writer and I’m currently on a short contract to write website content and articles for a Chinese tea company (can’t share any details, sorry!) so they can launch in the UK and start selling. It’s hard to write about tea all day for work and then write even more about tea in my spare time. You’d think writing about tea for 8+ hours a day would be fun, but it’s starting to get to me. Hopefully the contract will be finished by the end of this week.

Anyway, this seemed like an easy tea that wouldn’t take me too long to write about. Picked up 3 sachets of it from a hotel last year. It’s very artificial and one dimensional.

Couldn’t finish the cup because it’s just too powerful. As a soft drink, the sickly sweet, strong, fake strawberry flavour would be nice. As a black tea with fruit flavouring, it’s just not good.

I brewed it lightly and there’s definitely nothing subtle about the syrupy texture and strawberry flavour. The black tea is barely detectable.

Artificial strawberry and banana are probably my least favourite flavours because, to me, they never taste anything like the real fruit.

drank Soothe Your Tummy by Lipton
1647 tasting notes

ashmanra included an envelope of Soothe Your Tummy in a swap. Just what I needed. Last week, I was loading the trimmings of a monster English ivy tree into a yard waste bin and had to climb in to stomp the vines down. Who knows what got me, but I came out with several bites on my legs. One of the bumps went SNAFU. It was already infected and large but then it tripled in size overnight. So… I went to the ER last night. Everything is fine now but the antibiotics and codeine make me nauseous.

Enter Soothe Your Tummy. This herbal tea was goooood. I could taste everything and it was all quite fresh. The spicy ginger aroma tickled me nose. The warming ginger/ginger oil was dominant in taste but neither too strong nor too spicy. The licorice root was light, thank glorb. Enough peppermint to taste and feel. A little fennel here, a little clove there, some turmeric peeking through. Stomach and mind soothed.

Flavors: Clove, Fennel, Ginger, Peppermint, Spices, Spicy, Sweet

Ok, just a quickie review. I had a cup of this at church on Sunday. We have a cafe section of our building where you can sit and have a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the service if you are not the type of person to really participate. I was feeling pretty shakey on Sunday (Low Blood Sugar) and needed a pick me up. So a bite or two of pecan bar along with a cup of tea was the answer.
However, I should note, I wanted something with some caffeine, and I noticed that this was herbal AFTER I opened the bag. Not wanting to waste it, I grabbed a second bag of tea literally labeled “Black Tea”. I’m pretty sure it was GIANT store brand plain black tea. I put both bags into a cup of water (they had a kettle there) and steeped for about 3 minutes.
Results were rather pleasing. The peach mango was both sweet and slightly musky which is to be expected from this combination. However, by mixing it with straight CTC Black, it tempered the Peach Mango flavor and made it much more balanced. It was mighty tasty. So tasty in fact, that I made myself a second cup of this combination after services had ended (I was waiting for my ride). Very yummy.
Note: I’m not sure how good Peach Mango herbal would be on its own. Like I said it was both musky and sweet and I can see how this herbal would be too overpowering on its own. So yeah, if you have any of this, and don’t know what to do with it, mix it with a straight CTC Black. You can thank me once you do.

Traditional bag, not a pyramid one.

Well, another gift, another tea bag. But at least nice wrapping which is going to be awesome in my collection.

Aroma is really strong, it was like smelling bloom of sakura itself. Mug (about 300 ml), boiling water. There were no instructions. Or maybe in Japanese. Hmm. Let´s see.

Colour was turning quite quick to copper – apparently it is black tea with sakura flavouring / aroma. But it was smelling great, full blooming sakuras. No tea notes. I took bag out about two minutes of steeping.

Taste was smooth and flowery. Bit of cherries. But it was pleasant. I liked it more than expected.

The aroma is disappointingly weak, with only traces of lemon and bergamot.
Watery taste, but with refreshing lemon notes and a bit of bergamot in the background.
Drinkable, but noting special.

This one makes regular old flavorless American iced tea. It’s light in flavor and is much better as an Arnold Palmer! However, it is hella convenient at work when you can’t steep hot tea. I keep a carafe of this to drink throughout the day.

Sipdown! 42/365

One of the best pear flavours I’ve had in tea. Surprising for a bagged tea! Really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to, it appears, MissB and Sil for this sample! I had pretty low expectations for this tea… pear chocolate? What a weird combo. However, I was very pleasantly surprised – it brewed up with a lovely sweet aroma, and the flavour may have the most realistic pear notes that I have ever tasted in a tea. The chocolate was present but pretty subdued, which was probably okay. I have one teabag left and am now looking very forward to drinking it! I’d buy this, for sure!
