I don’t like alcohol, so I’m relieved it doesn’t taste too much like that. The base is also a little strong, almost like green tea, but I guess green rooibos has a similar vibe. I drank the whole package without forming too strong an opinion. I guess I thought the base overshadowed the flavors this time. I would have liked more strawberry or bubbliness.

drank Vanilla Cacao by Herbal Infusions

This is super tasty cold with almond milk and sweetener. It didn’t taste like much warm. I definitely noticed the vanilla once it cooled down. I might like this is even more than the original flavor! So rich and chocolatey.

There’s something in here that I don’t love. It doesn’t taste quite like celery, but celery adjacent. I also taste some light fruitiness. Plain, this was really too boring. With milk, this was pretty drinkable. I could taste a bit of fruit, but it was mild.

This is a nice genmaicha! It needed only a little sugar. It was really smooth and toasty and almost marshmallowy somehow. We drank it warm.

The resteep was super delicious. Lots of toasted rice flavor. The first steep somehow wasn’t as impressive. I taste toastiness and a bit of caramel, but not as strongly. Still, I really enjoyed the combination of toasty flavor with salted caramel! It doesn’t seem like pancakes to me.

From a TTB! This is a bit plantlike. It would be better with more depth/boldness. Not bad with milk and sugar, but it also doesn’t stand out in any way. Based on other reviews, it seems like this would have been better fresh, though I’m always grateful to try things in a TTB!

We dressed up in mild cosplay and went to a Star Trek themed afternoon tea at a local tea shop, and it was so tasty and cute! They carry teas from NM Tea Co, and we got to try two of them along with our treats! Unfortunately, this chai was pretty weak. It had no power, just meh and forgettable.

Courtney

This sounds so fun!

Ooh I love themed afternoon tea!

Kelmishka

Oooh, fun!

TeaEarleGreyHot

So lucky to have a local tea shoppe. And to have one with a Trek event??!! Oh, please, Make_It_So!

AJRimmer

Yeah this is definitely the theme I was most excited for of all the afternoon teas I’ve been to!

drank Citron Green by Adagio Teas
2538 tasting notes

Adagio sent me a “we miss you” envelope with four samples in it, but they didn’t include adequate postage, so I had to pay $4 to retrieve it from the post office. When I complained to Adagio, they didn’t care. It’s only $4, but it’s funny to me that their attempt at goodwill has instead made me not really want to order from them again.

I’d already had three of the teas previously, but this one is new to me. I taste the tang of the citrus. It’s decent, but the green tea below is pretty meh. It was a little straightforward for me and not as well done as something like 52teas could have done.

Kelmishka

Wowww, that’s terrible customer service! Definitely leaves a sour taste.

TeaEarleGreyHot

Goodness sakes! Maybe a one-off accident to just you. But likely not. I would hypothesize that one manager sent out the “come back” samples to a substantial number of clients, all of whom got the postage due notice. So what was meant as a positive gesture was at best a slightly insulting one to those who paid and didn’t bother to call. The incompetent (possibly disgruntled, ex-) shipping clerk gave the company a black eye by causing embarassment. As customers called in about it, the CSRs were unprepared for the situation and their Mgr may still be out on vacay or assessing the scope of the problem. The original Mgr wants to fix it, but has no authority. And the front line is without guidance, hence the seeming indifference. It will be interesting to see how they ultimately try to recover, which may depend upon the scope of the original blunder. If it was my company, I’d firstly apologize to those who call, and credit their accounts with $5 toward merch or shipping. To the rest, I’d send a postcard (so they needn’t open any envelope) acknowledging the mistake “which you may or may not have received” with a unique coupon code for a further free sample on any order from their account in 2025. But if it was just you or a few, I would send another sample AND a $5 credit on account, whether you called or not. That would be my minimum response. But Please let us know of any developments! Anyone else experience this?

AJRimmer

This happened a few months ago, and I never heard anything else from them, but I also didn’t push beyond the initial email because I figured it wasn’t worth the time. The person who responded was the opposite of apologetic ha. But yeah, it definitely seems like different teams not communicating with each other.

TeaEarleGreyHot

AJR, that’s a pity. A few months with no followup!? Someone wasn’t a team player. Or perhaps they had some chaos. Hopefully nothing tragic.

drank Tazo Turmeric Bliss by Tazo
2538 tasting notes

This tastes so much better than I expected. I generally don’t like turmeric in teas because it takes over, but here it’s just a nice, supportive flavor that adds extra depth. I also taste some fruitiness that’s appley and pleasant. This has some natural sweetness. I drank it cold, and I liked it so much I’d actually consider getting a box if I came across it at the store!

drank Mint Cacao Tea by Herbal Infusions

I don’t really taste much mint here. Like with the other blends, I enjoy the quality of the cacao shells. With milk and sugar, it tastes good, like high quality hot chocolate. It’s best cold, but it’s not as good as the plain version.

Bio

I’m an event planner who always has multiple mugs of tea beside me. Hobbies other than tea include board games, video games, cooking international dishes, science fiction, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, tap dancing, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing with my troublesome kitties.

Favorite flavors: dessert flavors, nutty, melon, mint, strawberry, anything rooibos-related.

Don’t prefer: Smoky, rosemary, savory flavors, floral (other than lavender), plain tea.

I always drink flavored tea, and preferably caffeine-free or black. I’ll try just about anything though! Let me know if you’re interested in a swap!

My ratings are kind of meaningless, but basically
90-100 pretty perfect
80-89 really good
70-79 good, but not the best
60-69 okay, but probably not for me
1-59 varying degrees of dislike
