361 Tasting Notes
I love chai but am pretty picky about it. I like them very spicy, but not heavily cloved, and I want to be able to taste the tea. This is a great chai. It’s not as spicy as I normally like them (I love hot spicy chais). But it’s a got a great mix of spices and none of them crowd out the others. Yum!
Man! This is good! My last few 52teas have underwhelmed me a bit, but this is super good. A very nutty caramel flavor. I hope this gets reblended, I blew my sample from Alphakitty in one big pot not expecting to like it much. Now I’m sad it’s gone already!
UPDATE I’m really loving this. If anybody has any they wouldn’t mind parting with, I’d gladly swap something for it. My cupboard isn’t too up to date so PM me if you’re interested and I’ll send you a list. I have a lot of good stuff!
Let me preface this by saying I don’t like maple syrup. I know, I’m crazy, how can someone not like it, but I don’t. I’ve heard it all before.
Okay, that’s off my chest. I LOVE this tea! I’ve never ordered it because I was scared of the maple syrup flavor. But whatshesaid had it available in a swap so I figured it was a good time to try a bit. Thank goodness! I love pecans and the pecan flavor in this is perfect. The maple syrup flavor is definitely there but works so perfectly with the pecans that I actually like it.
This is definitely going on my order list. Thanks whatshesaid!
This one smelled so good in the package that I had to make some. I’m not a pineapple fan, but read that it’s not strong in this and that’s totally the case. In fact, I don’t taste any pineapple at all, but the gooey cake is crazy good. I already placed a della terra order that’s on its way so I should probably wait to place another, but I don’t know if my will power can withstand that. We shall see….
Oops, I was so excited to write about how yummy this is that I forgot to thank Whatshesaid for the sample! A million apologies! Thank you so much for my new favorite DT tea!
Update this tea just provided some heartbreak for the big kid when she came running down for dinner thinking we were having pancakes for dinner. Oh the disappointment!
I had just poured hot water over these leaves when I saw the mailman pull up way earlier than normal. And he had two packages for me (a swap from whatshesaid and samples from Nina’s Paris). I debated what to do with the tea I had literally just made. I had a whole new batch of samples to try, but this isn’t a tea you ever waste.
And I’m so glad I didn’t. This is one of my ultimate favorites. I love how roasty it is. And the right amount of chocolate. I actually think this one would be fun to experiment with various add-ins. The first of which being marshmallows. It’s already got a twinge of s’mores-ness to it with it’s roasty chocolate flavor. Add a bit of marshmallow or marshmallow root and this could be the ultimate s’mores tea…
A mint tea that I like! Woot Woot! I tend to get overpowered by mint very easily in teas, but I found a winner. This has a great rich dark chocolate flavor, a smooth mint flavor, and just a hint of the puerh base. I’ve resteeped it several times and the flavor stays nice and strong. Glad I snatched it up before it was gone.
This tea really surprised me! I had the apple pie by sTEAp awhile back and was very underwhelmed by it. I just wanted something more out of it. This tea does not suffer the same fate. It is amazingly tasty. I love caramel apples and this tea honestly tastes like taking a bite out of a gooey caramel apple (without the mess!). The assam base is very mild in the background and blends so nicely with the flavors. This is a definite re-order. I’m so glad I finally tried it!
I think my expectations for this were too high. I got this from Alphakitty who got the new reblend. I’ve heard people comment that this one is made a little different. Maybe the original is more marshmallow-y. This one is a slightly sweeter and toastier genmai cha. Still good. Wish it were more marshmallow-y.
Thanks for the taste Alphakitty!
This is a good one. It took some work to figure out the right proportions (which I’m learning is key to all of them), but once I figure out the optimal for me I really enjoyed it. The macadamia nut flavor is done really well. I may mix it with a bit with caramel. Fun to experiment with these!
