361 Tasting Notes
Forgot that I tried this again today. This time with some black tea added. Made the rooibos even stronger. Ugh. Took one sip and dumped it into a jar to save for my mom. This is so not the tea for me. Rooibos and I are not friends at all.
Funny how your tastebuds change in such a short period of time. When I had this back at the beginning of March I was totally blown away. Loved it. Now that I have just finished off my 50g bag (SIPDOWN!!!) I’m pretty much over it. I’ve tried a variety of caramel teas and am pretty sure I have 2 awesome choices depending on the caramel I want. Caramel Vanilla Assam is the ultimate. So yummy, no additions necessary. Like a fancy butter caramel from a farmers market or something. My other favorite is Upton’s Caramel Black. Like the gooey caramel inside of a rolo candy. Not fancy at all, but delicious. I’d like to say I’m done and I won’t seek out more, but that’s a lie. If I see a caramel option at any site that i’m already ordering from, I’ll still do it. Just not this one. I’m over it.
Had this for breakfast. Pretty decent. Not great. I added some milk and honey to my first steep. Was heading out the door and added half of an actual salted butter caramel from Trader Joe’s to my second steep. That was was really good. Like most of the Culinary Teas, I enjoy it, will drink my whole sample, but probably won’t re-order.
I’ve tried a bunch of teas over the past few days but it’s been pretty crazy over here so I haven’t logged them. I’ll try and get back on track! This tea smells awesome. The flavors are good and all present (Chocolate, caramel, nut), but I wish the black tea base was a little stronger. It gets tastier as it cools. I’ll definitely enjoy the rest of my sample, but I doubt I’ll reorder.
Also had this in the morning.
Literally went through the same exact process as the apple cinnamon coffeecake, but was surprised because I had heard this was super tasty on its own. Once it was fully tweaked I liked it. I think I like Cookie from Lupicia better, but this is pretty good.
Had this in the morning but Steepster was pissing me off so I couldn’t post about it.
I was quite annoyed at this tea at first. It smelled amazing. I couldn’t wait to taste it. But it tasted like hot water with an essence of cinnamon. So put the leaves back in. Let it go another minute. Then it tasted like hot bitter water. I looked around to see what I could tweak it with and added some honey and frothed milk. A little better. Then I added some brown sugar. That did it. It tasted great. The cinnamon cake-y flavor dominated for sure. A hint of apple. As the tea cooled it got much more flavorful as well. Next time I’ll let it cool a lot more before adding any tweaks to see how it is.
