448 Tasting Notes
There’s something about this one that smells kind of weird, but I don’t taste it at all. I’m really not sure what it is.
This one tastes just like banana oatmeal to me. It’s warm and comforting, and I wish this had caffeine because it would be a great morning tea! Even without, I still like it quiet a lot .
Thanks to a deal from a year or so ago, I have a ton of 2oz bags of this. Luckily it works out since this tends to be a tea I can reach for when I’m not sure what I want.
I finally brought a bag in to work today and enjoyed a cup this morning
Looks like this one is a reblend of a loved classic. Sadly, I never tried that one, and I’ve never had bananas foster, AND I have a cold currently, so this probably isn’t the most helpful of reviews. Oops!
This tea definitely has banana flavor, which makes me really happy! I am always saying banana teas don’t have enough banana, so this is a nice change. I actually kind of want this banana flavor in an oolong.
The banana is at the front of the sip, and right after that is some tartness. Should that be there? I’m not sure. It could also be a product of less than optimal brewing conditions on my part, or my cold interfering with flavor.
There’s also a creaminess, that makes me want to say whipped cream? vanilla ice cream? something along those lines.
I like this tea, but honestly it just makes me want a banana cream pie oolong. Does that exist? I wouldn’t be surprised if 52teas has already tackled that one
Edit: I didn’t realize I had already reviewed this and lamented the lack of banana flavor. It’s amazing what time/ different brewing parameters/ etc can do!
This one makes me super nostalgic of my early tea days. It reminds me of Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, which was one of my first 52Teas ever.
I definitely get the cookie taste very well in this one. The raspberry adds some tartness without being too intense (ie. it’s not like hibiscus). I don’t get a ton of almond, but I’m still very happy with how this one is. I like the honeybush, as opposed to rooibos
I was gone for a week in Cozumel, Mexico (where I got engaged!), and had my lovely 52Teas order waiting for me when I returned!
I got a cold on the way back from the trip, so I’m not sure how well my taster is working. That’s part of the reason I went with a chai. Nice strong flavors and some spice to clear out the sinuses! Also, unlike most black teas, I like to take chai with milk and that just sounds soothing on my sore throat.
This is definitely spicier! The chai spice flavors are nice and strong in this one. Weak spice is my biggest complaint with chais so I’m happy about that! Without milk, the spiciness was all that I could taste. However, after adding milk, I get a bit more sweet creaminess of the chocolate and marshmallow. I don’t get a ton of flavor, but that may change when the cold is gone. Definitely enjoying this one either way though!
I am always cautious with green teas, because there are very few I actually like. Genmaicha and I usually get along well enough, though, so I was hopeful with this one.
I’ve never had flan, so I don’t know how this holds up to that, but this teas was so buttery and creamy and I imagine the flan had something to do with that? The coconut adds a nice toastiness. It’s always nice to encounter a green tea that I really enjoy.
I have the reblended version of this from winning a month’s worth of teas from 52teas! I’ve had each tea in the box a few times now and am finally getting around to writing about them.
This tea is nice, but I’m not getting a ton of bananay flavors. I do feel like this is a bit unfair though, because I’m pretty sure the banana flavor that I’m looking for is something closer to a fakey candy flavor. I never tried the original so I can’t compare there.
