448 Tasting Notes
I’m trying (yet again) to get back into reviewing teas on Steepster. I love the community and always miss this place :)
One of the reasons I’m trying to get back in is because I bought a new milk frother to make tea lattes with! I’m a sucker for London Fogs and want to try replicating those at home. I saw a review on the milk frother that said this tea was a great way to do just that! I was excited to see that Stash had a loose leaf version and bought that, not realizing I was buying an entire pound of tea that I had never tried before!
I brewed this today with my amateurly frothed milk (definitely needs practice!). I was getting Earl Grey bergamoty flavors, as well as a kind of floral perfumey bitterness. I’m not sure if I got a bit too much lavender or steeped it too long or what! I added some simple syrup and that smoothed out the bitterness but covered up the lavender.
Now that it’s cooled off to a kind of lukewarm temp, I’m getting more lavender as well as a more distinctly orange flavor. I have a whole pound of this tea to get through so I’m looking forward to playing around with it! Maybe I’ll even try to get into baking and cooking with tea!
Flavors: Citrus, Floral, Lavender, Orange
Preparation
This is over a year old at this point, so I was hesitant when I found it buried under other teas. However, this is still really good. I think I underleafed on the first cup so I’m getting mostly a candy-ish banana flavor and a faint whiff of tea. I’m guessing I need a bit extra since it’s older. We’ll see how the second round goes.
Preparation
I’m pretty sure this is from last year’s Christmas sampler, so this is likely getting old. It’s almost gone, so I’m working on using it up. I don’t remember what this was like back when I first tried it. Currently, the sip starts out with some candy banana flavors with just a hint of grass, kind of like someone dropped the candy on the ground, then picked it back up and gave it to me (not in a bad way lol). The more it cools, the more I lose the distinct flavors and end up with a general savoriness.
Preparation
I’m still trying to figure out how o brew teas to my liking in my new location, so take this one with a grain of salt.
When it was fresh and hot, this one had a bit more of a raspberry candy flavor, with some of the tea itself at the end. Then I got distracted with homework and let it cool, too much. I could taste a bit of tartness from the raspberry and that was about it.
Preparation
A tea at work for a stressful day. The lavender is tasty and soothing, and the green tea is pretty nice, at least for a green
So I took a trip to France, forgetting that Kusmi, which I’ve always wanted to try was from Paris. Then I saw the giant Champs-Elysee store and knew I had to go. I picked up a caramel tea, as well as three of the tins, including this one. I told myself I needed them because I was about to be on a boat for a week and a half without tea if I didn’t get them.
Well now I’m back and many of these are proving to be great breakfast teas. I had this one this morning with some almond milk. Very smooth and tasty, with lots of bergamoty goodness. So glad I got to go to the store and ask about teas in my broken French!
Well, hello there! A pound definitely gives you lots to experiment with. Lemon lavender pound cake? Lavender brownies?
This sounds really nice. I may have to order a wee bit.
I"ve been wanting to try this one but can’t find it anywhere nearby. It’s always out of stock. Must be a mostly online only product.
Welcome back!
Thanks everyone! I found some earl grey lavender cookies I might have to try out! And lavender brownies sound amazing
Lexie, I definitely will have some to share if you ever need it lol. And I saw a few different options online, but you might only be able to get loose leaf in the one pound bag!I’ve never made anything with lavender except suggestions ;)
Aww Thsnks (: Earl Grey Cookies sound delicious! There’s a local coffee shop here that makes the best earl grey shortbread cookies and uses a lavender frosting for the filling.
