This one is always a nice go-to relaxing tea, but unfortunately this morning my cat decided to jump into the mug right after pouring it. I didn’t want her poor paw to get burned so I sort of grabbed her midair and moved her aside. A little bit spilled but I think it mostly went on me. At least she had the decency to look sad while I was running on cold water over my hand. The tea was still nice but this was not the most relaxing time I’ve had with Lady Grey!

Side note, I keep forgetting to look into getting the loose leaf version. I remember really liking it when I had a tin a few years back!

P.S. the cat’s name is Darjeeling, so I’m thinking she’s mad that I never seem to drink any Darjeeling

Love the moniker. Due to weather, we’re incarcerated with cabin fever cats and I’m rather missing my feline-free office for productivity reasons!

I don’t know how this one has held up as well as it has but I still get some lemony flavor and some breadiness from this! Of course not as much as it originally was but it’s still enjoyable enough to finish off what’s left in the bag with no problem!

VariaTEA

I had this yesterday and was so happy mine also held up. This tea is so good!

Emilie

I don’t get it but I’m not going to question it! Hopefully we can see its return or a dupe someday!

Another older one that’s lost a lot of its flavor. There’s still a decent amount of this left. At what point do I decide to throw a tea out vs. finishing it off? It feels weird throwing out tea but if it has no flavor it feels silly drinking it!

Sometimes the old stuff works OK as a base for mint or for a latte…then again sometimes you just have to let it go. May you decide wisely ;)

I never feel bad about tossing mostly flavorless tea, as I have so many other teas I could be drinking. I do generally save teas that I just don’t like to rehome, but no one wants an old bland tea! :P

Sipdown 5

I’m pretty sure this one was from a swap at least 6 or 7 years ago. It still smelled super smoky but didn’t have a ton of flavor left. This was one of my first smoky teas and still one of my favorites. I recently found out I live not too far from this tea house so I’m definitely going to need to get some more soon! Especially since my partner recently discovered he also likes smoky teas!

This was one of those where I was saving the last little bit because I was too sad to see it go! Luckily it still had some flavor left even though it was a little too old. I love coconut black teas and this was no exception!

Instead of being super coconut-y today, it was more of a subtle marshmallow. Still tasty but not at its best. Now I just have to figure out what my next coconut tea should be

I’m not sure how old this one is but I don’t think it was super new, not a ton of flavor!

Ok, I absolutely love this one but I’m not at all surprised by that. I love lavender, vanilla, AND Earl Grey so how could I not love this tea. I wish I had more than the sample size but that’s how it goes.

I made this one as a latte (to the best of my abilities) and it was mostly lavender up front, but not in an overpowering floral way. Lots of nice vanilla overall! Not quite as much bergamot as I would like but that may be because of the milk.

I only have a cup or two left of this and I’m not looking forward to it being gone!

Sipdown number two!

Another advent sample down! I’m definitely getting the maple in here, but it’s not super strong. I’m also getting some toastiness but not much of the marshmallow which I’m sad about! It was also mostly crumbly bits at the bottom though so that could be part of the issue

Cameron B.

I have a hard time finding the marshmallow in these blends too.

Emilie

I know I’ve tasted marshmallow in teas like this before, but I feel like it is usually on the subtle end and probably can’t hold up to something stronger like maple

My first sipdown! :D

This is from the most recent advent box, and I keep forgetting that putting milk in it makes it a lot harder to taste the flavors! I did get a sort of sunflower nuttiness, especially as an after taste.

After getting cold, I felt like may be I could tasty some tart raspberry-ness but that may just be me looking for it!

I’ve had this one for a few years now. I was gifted a tin of it a few years back and it always ends up behind all of the newer, smaller things coming in but I finally decided to make some of this today!

I still can’t really decide if I like this tea or not. It makes me think of thyme and hay, which just makes me miss the animal sanctuary I was working at back in March. I accidentally let about half of the mug go cold while I was working and I think I may like it better this way.

Side note, I’m thinking of joining in on Mastress Alita’s sipdown! I haven’t participated in one before but I definitely could use a cupboard clean out.

Flavors: Hay, Thyme

Come join the sipdown-it is fun! And related/unrelated if you have instagram we have a sipdown group chat that’s fun as well. :)

Emilie

I haven’t used instagram in forever but that sounds like motivation to get back in to it! How would I go about joining the group chat?

ashmanra

Oooooh, I was wondering where it was! I had no idea how you guys were coordinating the sipdowns! Ha ha!

Bio

I’ve lived in Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Maryland, Texas, California, and Oklahoma. I’m just waiting to see where we end up next!

My preferences are towards black and oolong teas but I love trying new and/or weird teas! I’m finally learning to enjoy green tea.

We recently moved to about 6500 feet above sea level and I’m still trying to get the hang of the lower boiling point! Any tips would be appreciated :)

I really love swapping, so if anything in my cupboard catches your eye, please let me know!
