37 Tasting Notes
One of my absolute favorites!
I remember loving this when I was little and then couldn’t find this particular one by Republic of Tea for the longest time. I recently discovered that Central Market was carrying this flavor and it was the best moment.
The raspberry gives a little tartness, and the quince gives it a perfect sweetness.
To me, this is the PERFECT cup of black tea. It’s refreshing, it’s energizing, and it’s also got a dark sweetness to it that isn’t over the top!
I’m not usually a fan of dessert or chocolate teas at all, but this blend puts in the right amounts of everything to make it work. The mint and peppercorns also give it a nice kick to the mellow chocolate.
There aren’t very many flavors that can achieve what Read My Lips can, and I find myself craving it as I type..
I bought this tea completely on a whim, and overall don’t regret getting it. It definitely does its job as an energy booster, and it’s pretty good alternative if I’m not in the mood for any coffee. Usually I’m not a fan of chocolate teas, but this one is not overly chocolatey, and I definitely taste a lot of the raspberry flavor. I do think it has somewhat of a subtle bitterness to it, but I don’t mind it too much. Even if it did bother me, less steeping time and maybe some brown sugar could help to improve that.
Being one of the more popular teas from DT, I expected so much more. Overall, I find that it’s weak, not all that “nutty.” While it’s not a bad tea, it’s not something I’ll be likely to repurchase because it doesn’t have a flavor that is very unique or amazing.
Preparation
I think this tea is really true to the idea of “buttered rum,” and I appreciate it for that reason. It’s not crazy flavorful, but it’s comforting and tasty with just the right amounts of coconut and vanilla. I’ll have to try it with some brown sugar and maybe some milk for added creaminess, but it’s perfectly delicious plain and hot as well!
Got this in my Sweet Indulgence sampler pack.
Not sure what I was really expecting, but from the description, I was somewhat excited to try it as I placed an order. Leaf shaped sprinkles, how cute is that? Presentation gets a plus.
Once I’d steeped it however, I just couldn’t get over the fakeness and sickly sweetness of the maple flavor. Eventually I got tired of having the rest of the tea sitting in a mug next to me, and tossed it. After the first try, I’m not so willing to give it another go.
