60 Tasting Notes
Oh my, this is nice. I’ve been trying to figure out what it reminds me of and I’ve finally pinpointed it: anyone remember those fruit candies called runts? The banana ones were always my favourite, and that’s what this tea reminds me of. Sweet, sugary, creamy banana. Love it!
So Christmas came in January this year, because the wonderful Kasumi sent me her 12 Days of Christmas along with so many other wonderful samples that I’m dying of excitement and I want to try everything all in one go. But I’m being a good girl and starting with Day 1, which is Cotton Candy Black Tea.
Dry, it smells exactly like cotton candy! Yummmm.
Brewed and tasted hot, it’s quite sweet, but not that sickly cloying sweet you get with a lot of flavoured black teas that use too much stevia right in the leaves. (I prefer to add my own stevia if needed — definitely don’t with this!)
As it cools down a smidge the sweetness has mellowed a bit. I love it~
Down to my last teaspoon of this — let’s see how many steeps I can get!
On a sidenote, I need to keep up with my tealogging; I’ve been slipping on adding tasting notes but not on drinking tea. Writing a lot of fanfiction lately and going through at least a couple cups while I write!
Fixed myself a cup of this to drink in the bath with a good book, and oh my gosh the leaves alone are just so pretty with the pearls and everything. The taste is light and sweet, and I don’t get that earthy/fishy pu-erh taste that I get with the others I’ve tried. Lovely!
This is okay. I don’t think I like lemongrass? It’s got a weird taste to it and the lemon-y taste masks the rest of the flavours.
But I need something to calm me down because spoilers for the BBC Miranda finale just came out and I’m sobbing into my teacup because FEELS. This show is worse than Doctor Who because Doctor Who never claimed to be a sitcom that would RIP MY HEART INTO TINY PIECES.
…yeah I think I need another cup.
I’m beginning to think green tea just isn’t for me. I’ve yet to find a blend that works for me. I received this in my January Amoda Tea Tasting Box and sadly all three blends in the box were just the exact opposite of what I like. Two of them are going to a coworker and this one is going up for swap.
I’m really sorry to hear that! This is great feedback for us though to perhaps stick with more of a variety per tea box. We have done that each month up until January where we chose to do similar teas. I have a ton of samples in our store room. Tell me what you like and I’ll let you know what I have and I can swap with you :)
Aw, you’re so sweet to offer but don’t worry, it’s going to a new home already~ And it was still a fun surprise to get in the mail, it just isn’t the right sort of thing for me. n_n;; It’s so hard t find good tea retailers in Canada, though!
