Dong Guo grows in a rocky environment with difficult conditions, and its exposure to the elements shows in its powerful character. The taste and smell are quite strong for Lincang Puerh, and it has a powerful yet smooth Qi. This tea is exceptional for aging, and it is also amazing to drink now. The Dong Guo teamaker is a very confident man with strong Qi. He is very proud of his tea, and we believe this is reflected in the tea which has a strong, bold character.
2018 is a great year for our Lincang teas. There was more sun, less rain, and there was less tea produced across the board. Thus, the raw material price was slightly higher than 2017. The 2018 teas are generally more warming, and the Dong Guo in particular has a bit of a stronger taste than 2017. Both are great teas, and comparing them is an interesting experience.
The tea trees live at 1900-2,200 meters in Xi Ban Shan, MengKu, Lincang, Yunnan, China. The trees are ~250-300 years old.
