Gongfu!
I had this on the weekend – it was a really beautiful day so I took it as an excuse to get out to the park, crack into the cake and have some tea out in nature (w/ some comic book reading too)! This is such an amazing ripe puer; it’s warm and woody, but more than that it has this eerily accurate buttery pie crust type of flavour with undertones of smooth, coating black cherries!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get a 2020 pressing…
Seven steeps total, which was pretty darn good for carafe water and an outdoor session. I used a large cup for this session, and stacked two steeps at a time – except for the first steep which I had on its own.

I keep hearing good things about Pretty Girls. Have you tried the 2019 version?
Wow! Carafe water? As in, ambient temp? I have never tried that with short steeps, only cold brewing for long periods. Just watched a video of someone making green tea in Korea using a gaiwan, pouring in warm but not hot water halfway, steeping briefly, then adding room temp water. They said they like it better in hot weather that way. Imma try carafe water!
….with shu, though, don’t know if it would be enough for green.
@Cube – I have a cake of the 2019 pressing, but haven’t tried it yet. I’ve also heard positives about it though.
@Ashmanra – Sorry, my wording was ambiguous. I meant hot/near boiling water transferred from my kettle at home to a thermal carafe so I could transport it to the park.
