A very bud heavy picking with light and airy candy aromatics. Pretty and sweet, just like you, dear reader.
Each purchase is for 25 grams.
Black tea from Fujian province. Each 25 gram tea package is in a sealed bag.
Sipdown, western style. Kinda contrary to normal directions for these, but I don’t do too much gong fu style due to it taking more time/energy than I have sometimes.
Three steeps on this, at boiling for the 1st, then with cooler water for the other two. Flavors stayed the same throughout, just weaker on the later steeps.
Sweet, amber (maybe honey?? not sure what I meant here), sugar cane, chocolate, cocoa. A nice smooth black tea.

This is a beautifully sweet and medium bodied bud heavy black tea just dripping with sweet, golden honey notes with undertones of sweet and malty Easter buns, raisins, and just a hint of cocoa. The honey is the star tasting note, though. Wow!!
Within my first day back home I tripped and likely sprained my ankle, and it’s been near impossible to walk around for long stretches since so I’ve basically just been hanging out at home and drinking lots and lots of tea. I suppose, in some ways, that’s made for both a very eventful AND uneventful start to the vacation. On the positive side, one of my favourite things when traveling is to pick up teaware pieces from local potters and ceramacists, and we thankfully did that before the sprain happened. It’s left me with plenty of time to enjoy new pieces of teaware, like this GORGEOUS teacup.
I noticed last night during a backyard campfire how perfectly the many, many years old flaking paint of our garage matched this funky little piece so I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of the two together!

Sorry, it’s been a few days since I’ve written a note. I had a couple of all-day work events this week which really just wore my introverted self out. But thankfully now it’s Friday and a half day, woo!
This tea was delicious. It’s been my first tea of the day for a couple of weeks now, and is such a lovely start to the morning. It’s gentle and smooth and just tastes like pure honey with a touch of bread. I’m not sure I’ve tried another tea with such a strong and distinct honey note to it. And not like generic honey flavor, but like actual clover or wildflower honey with those subtle pollen-y floral notes. It reminds me a bit of Taiwanese black teas, but without the other fruity and cinnamon flavors those tend to have.
Anyway, not a very complex tea but super delicious and I would absolutely buy it again. :)
