Chai Spiced Apple

Steeped for 8min then added a TB of caramel coffee creamer… WHOA! The apple and chai spices both stand up to the caramel which is amazing since this creamer is insanely sweet. This definitely confirms it’s worthy of the 100 rating.

Sadly, this isn’t tasting quite the same for me at work. I guess it might really need boiling water, rather than whatever comes out of the hot water spigot from the coffee machine.

Aw man! I just got back home from World Market and they had this there! I wish I would have picked some uo as well as the chai pumpkin spice and hazelnut chai. Grrrr… well its right by the post office, which is why I stopped by since I was dropoing off my Secret Pumpkin swap package! Oh well I have to go back to the post office tomorrow anyways to drop off some swaps and hopefully the traveling tea box. I’ll have to pick all three of those up! I did however pick up a few tea goodies I found!

The tea tins I saw on my newsletter email and knew I had to grab them! Especially for $3 and them being quite large. I noticed that their tea accessories and mug selction has grown quite substantially! And they have a HUGE selection of Mugs like DavidsTea perfect mugs! I was in aw and only for $6. Sold! So I picked up the white one. They had awesome patterned ones. I will have to pick up a few more! Yay! Anyways…

Two apple teas in a row I’ve tasted and who knew I was an apple tea kind of girl! I love the spices in this tea. The cinnamon and apple remind me of apple pie! Yummy!

I drank this tea without milk today, and it still wasn’t what I wanted it to be. It’s too dull. No ginger. No piquance. Just diluted warm apple cider.

It would be so much better if it wasn’t so watery. I want to brew it with two tea bags next time, but it turns out very dark with just one. Plus, I can’t imagine how much caffeine would be in it then. I’m getting a headache just thinking about it.

I’m sad Twinings can’t make a better chai. I’m not going to go so far as to throw away the rest of the bags, but I have a feeling it’s going to take a while to finish them all. I also might try pawning some off on other people.

It’s not that it’s a bad tea. It’s just not what I want in a chai.

I had this tea this morning it was decent. It is way more apple then tea. Kind of like apple cider. Its a good morning tea. I am separated from my whole tea collection right now so this is a pretty good stand-in.

So, the hubby and I actually first tried this tea when we got a sample bag of it attached to a box of their normal Chai last autumn. We saw a full box of it this season and immediately snagged it, because we really liked it when we first got to try it!

I had never tried an apple flavored chai before, despite the fact that when my husband and I picked it up, we were like, “This pairing is so intuitive, why haven’t we encountered it before?” I had just never seen any company that I normally patronize do a blend like that—I’m now aware, after having poked around here on Steepster, that plenty of other companies have done blends like this. Well, let me assure you, those of you who are fans of those other blends—this one is tasty. The apple flavor may taste a little on the fake side, but as small as the teabags are, I wouldn’t expect them to be able to fit many apple pieces in there. So, apple flavoring it is. I don’t mind it so much, since I have my chai with sugar and milk anyway.

This is a tea bag. Yuck, don’t do it! Not good at all.

This is a decent tea. I drink mine hot with nothing added to it. Although it smells just like apple cider, it tastes mostly like black tea with just a hint of apples and spices. Appropriate, sure, but I think I was hoping for more of a cider-y flavor. That’s not really the tea’s fault, though.

It’s more subtle in flavor than the scent leads one to believe which is why I’m planning to take the flavor up a notch in the future. I have two ideas: (1) brew this tea in a large batch, then add mulling spices and simmer; (2) swirl a cinnamon flavored honey stick in the cup. Oh, I should probably see if I can add more apple flavor somehow – possibly a splash of apple cider or juice? We’ll see.

Long story short: As long as you don’t expect the intense flavor of apple cider, you shouldn’t be disappointed with this tea.

The apple is all in the smell.

Well! This was my taste for the day and I was a little let down when I first slurped my tea expecting the crispness of a chai…but as I accepted that this is not my conventional chai (of course! I know the name tells me that – what was I thinking?) – I liked it a lot. I would call it cider chai. And I am going to drink more of it this winter. But But But! I am still going to stick to my routine Karma Blends Chai every morning. The Cider Chai is more like a 4 PM thing when the day hits it low and the sun gives up on us!
