Kukicha – a.k.a. ‘twig tea’– is a traditional Japanese tea variety made from the stems and stalks of the tea shrub, the same plant that green tea and black tea are made from (Camellia sinensis). After the twigs are pruned from the shrub, they are steamed and dried, then aged and gently roasted. Organic Kukicha is pleasantly rich, nutty and roasted; far less astringent than green tea. Serve with lemon, if desired
