From Trader Joe's

“Some people will tell you there is a great deal of poetry and fine sentiment in a chest of tea.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson

With this wisdom from Emerson in mind, we set out to develop a flawless fall tea bursting with “poetry and fine sentiment.” Tasseographers would say that this tea we developed foretells leaves falling, apple picking, wind whistling, and fire crackling. You don’t need to be adept at reading leaves to decipher that harvest memories are made in Trader Joe’s Harvest Blend Herbal Tea.

With aromatic bursts of cinnamon and ginger, an abundance of apple flavor and a sweet-spicy lingering finish, Trader Joe’s Harvest Blend Herbal Tea delivers a season’s-worth of experiences in a sip. Don’t let that stop you from seeking out those experiences yourself, though. In fact, we encourage it! Brew a cup and head out to the pumpkin patch or take a walk in the brisk fall weather. Naturally caffeine free, it invigorates the senses with vibrant apple aromas and soothes both stomach and soul with rich, ginger-cinnamon warmth.

Ingredients: cinnamon, ginger, hibiscus, natural cinnamon and apple flavors with other natural flavors, chamomile, roasted chicory, orange peel

This one was surprisingly good. I was looking for a non-caffeine blend for my recently endless nights of staring at a screen. It’s a classic “fall” blend- cinnamon, hibiscus, apple, orange peel and chamomile (though it’s barely there) over a chicory base. I get just a hint of the alleged ginger, though more would be nice.

It is heavy on the cinnamon (real) and apple (slighly unnatural) and very fragrant, almost potpurri-like. I enjoy that, while some tea purists may not. I do recommend to drink it hot. The wet-doggy note (chicory? lurking marigold?) becomes more prominent as it cools down. Probably the cozy autumnal feelings this evokes are more pleasant than the actual drink, but the overall effect is quite nice and I find myself reaching for this more than I expected. At for around $3 per box, it’s economical if you’re looking for a decaf cinnamon/apple blend.

Sipdown! (8 | 355)

Random impulse purchase from Trader Joe’s.

It’s not very good to be honest, ha ha… It’s a bit like a thinner herbal version of Harney’s Hot Cinnamon Spice. There’s also a bit of a musty flavor going on, not sure if it’s the chamomile or something else? There are other ingredients, but mostly I’m just tasting the sweet cinnamon and maybe a hint of apple. I wish there was a bit more hibiscus? It’s in the ingredients but I’m not tasting it at all.

Anyway, not terrible but not something I would repurchase. But definitely very appropriate for fall!

A classic fall-tasting herbal tea. Very cinnamon-y with strong apple undertones. I’m not a fan of strong cinnamon teas, so it’s not something that I would choose to drink again, but if you are more of a cinnamon lover, you’d likely enjoy it.

Sipdown! First of all, I love the packaging on this. It’s just so gosh darn cute! I also really enjoy the blend. I am very fond of cinnamon, which is the dominant flavor here. It’s well supported by the apple and ginger flavors. Overall, this makes for a full-bodied and satisfying mug.

I think I didn’t steep it long enough, will try 4 minutes next time. Lightly spicy, heavy on the apple.

A big spicy in a nice way. Mostly, it tastes like apple. It’s not the best tea out there but it can work on a chiil, not so cold, fall afternoon.

Another Christmas gift. Again, not something I’d normally drink, but I’m drinking it right now while I’m sick. There’s a whole list of ingredients in here, including hibiscus and chamomile, which are two ingredients which I’d normally stay away from. But the flavor is almost pure cinnamon with just a bit of indistinguishable fruity flavor lingering in the background. It’s not great, but it’s drinkable…with this list of ingredients, it could have been much worse!

Looks appealing, but the taste is disappointing. It’s spicy but lacking in any richness.
